The manual is more like a brochure. Not much there. But the price is right.

not on my list but it is great that DCDesigns releases a video showing what there product can do recorded on the xbox. if other devs would take note to help with there sales

Its been very quiet since the SU-27 release so I thought I would throw in my two cents. At one point I highly anticipated this release but decided I would probably pass. I bought the F-15,16 and Harrier when they first came out, but I stopped buying DCD jets after that and I donā€™t fly them anymore. However I finally gave in and bought the SU-27 out of curiosity. The exterior is fine, it flyā€™s well, the simple nav systems are ok for me too, but the quality of the cockpit textures and geometry falls short of my expectations. There are now several fantastic military aircraft/jets available with superb graphics inside and out, especially in the cockpit and there are more on the way. The price doesnā€™t matter to me. I will gladly pay more if it warrants it. My intent isnā€™t to be mean at all. I admire the commitment to mil jets in MSFS and DCD was one of the first, but the market and development of military aircraft has changed. The bar has been raised. Iā€™m disappointed because of what the SU-27 could have beenā€¦

Itā€™s quiet indeed. I was hoping for a bit more feedback, but maybe we should just give it some time.
From my side, I already have the Su-27 from Deimoā€™s, and Iā€™m quite happy with it already, although it has some annoying limitations:

  • flaps are automatic only, you cannot control their deployment
  • flight control system limiter is not available and always off
  • weapon loadout can be displayed but appearance is not weight-specific yet
ā€¦and maybe some other things I donā€™t have in mind).

So Iā€™m interested to know the differences and features that are brought his DC Design Su-27 compared to the Deimoā€™s.

Picked this up on a whim today, couple quick reactions:

  • shows up under ā€œotherā€ aircraft category instead of ā€œjetsā€
  • the manual is super light, very little information. doesnā€™t call out specific instruments or list any procedures. did not find it helpful when reviewing it after being unable to start engines on my first try. (second and third tries went fine following the in-game checklist, though)
  • in-game checklist for startup has a couple bits that donā€™t seem to mark the position right (specifically: ā€˜engage starterā€™ points somewhere near the HUD instead of at the correct button)
  • HUD and dial altimeter and airspace indicator are using knots&feet instead of km/h&meters, which threw me off unexpectedly
  • doesnā€™t seem to respond to flaps axis or flaps up/down buttons. if flaps are strictly on auto thatā€™s fine i guess but iā€™m not really sure what was going on?
  • generally it feels like a ā€œbig heavy F-15ā€ which makes sense given its size, shape, and the fact it was built to compete with the F-15
  • really easy to tip over taxiing.

Have a look at the needles of the gauges, please. They are hilarious. And, unfortunately , this is not something unusual for 99% of all the models of ex-USSR aircraft when gauges look strange (imitation of Russian text and AGI usually suffer most but this time things went too far to my taste with RPM and VSI gauges and I hope they repair this in the future). It is understandable when simplification concerns some logic behind some of the systems, but is this really so difficult to make needles look not like on a toy for kids ages 1-3?

Minor bug fixes underway, ejection seat handles, checklist details, oleo wheel position, exhaust texture finish. Will send out next week.

Category fixed, as are tooltips for the starters. Manual is purposefully light, checklists are the main source of info these days ( console users need them more than manuals ). HUD and altimeter using knots and feet for practicality purposes, but will eventually switch to the Russian versions later ( more would be caught out by that, than having feet and knots ).

Flaps are fully automatic, and itā€™s a huge jet with a narrow undercarriage, so taxiiing is indeed somethign that must be conducted carefully

Thanks for the upcoming fixes!

Here would be my first impression video in German Language -

TLTW;
(my opinion only)

  • you can have fun with it
  • not quite on par with the DC Design aircraft releases before
  • textures outside and inside are mediocre this time
  • imperial units instead of metric
  • nice sound
  • flight model is something I cannot judge, but I was not able to perform the tail slide and the cobra properly, but that might just be me
  • overall a medium quality addon
  • still - you can have fun with it

Cheers

Dean I have moved on to the higher fidelity graphic mil jets that are available. I did just re-install the new F-16 and its pretty good thank you. I will fly it until there is something better. Please do to the SU27 cockpit what you did with the F16. One small example of many of the poor cockpit textures that keep me from flying this jet is the canopy handle. Its not even round it has low poly edges. This can be seen throughout the cockpit. There is another SU 27 that I prefer to this but its not to my standards either. You can do better. Charge $5-$10 more if you have to. Thanks!
