December 3rd patch? (No not the development update) (game now drops to 10 fps)

I am aware of the December 3rd, a development UPDATE was released, but on that day, when I ran the game, it re-download the previous patch again. And it wasn’t just me. Other friends had the same issue.

Since then, I have had general stability issues where the game, after an hour or so, drops to 10 FPS and often will crash to desktop.

Has anyone else experienced this? Most of my friends who did play have stopped playing because they found the game so flakey since the USA update, so I don’t have anyone locally I can ask who has been playing the game since December 3rd.

So two questions… #1, did you also get an in-game update in the last 7 days and what was that about?

#2 have you had any stability issues since?

All the best,

Joe

The update to the sim on the 3rd was a 1GB update that everyone got.
It was apparently just Nav data.
If you ended up downloading more than this it’s probably because you had some corrupt (or changed by mods) files that MSFS deemed necessary to redownload to fix.
And no I have not noticed any effect on performance or stability.

Navdata only. No changes to sim core functionality (now referred to as SimUpdates in the Product Roadmap going forward).

I just made this video to show you an example.
After a period of time like 2 hours (not important what airplane I am flying).
The game will sink now to 10 fps, and if I change the resolution or do anything, it just 10 fps and says it is CPU bound.

If I go from ultra to low-quality or make any changes, it will just stay at 10 fps… if I even drop to the lowest resolution possible, it just stays at 10 fps.

And while it says I am CPU bound, you can see not any of my threads are close to 100%!

Got after the last Update before stutters in dense photogammic Citys. That are fixed. Flying over Houston, no stutters anymore and more then 33 FPS (Locked)

I just did a bunch more testing and found the problem is a flight simulator 2020 bug. I was doing a long LOW flight. It turns out if you fly any model under 5000 feet over land for a long period of time (let’s say 4X speed) for an hour, the game will CTD. It looks like a memory issue exists, and flying over a lot of land and having many areas load and new ones load when you are like 5000 feet will make the game crash.

I have had someone else test on another system, and it is something you can repeat with any model. Just set yourself to 5000 and fixed heading and let it go on something with a good range, and the game will crash.

That’s weird my performance improved I’m getting over 100 fps in high settings only way to know is how much CPU your using and how much gpu what resolution you running ? Are you using msi afterburner and/or hw monitor? Putting up your hardware will help to determine what the problem is.

Wow!

What are your system specs and Sim settings? Over 100 FPS is amazing!

Since the latest patch was installed I’ve seen improvements in the New York City scenery. The East River bridges now look almost like they are supposed to although there is still that dark mask below some of them. The Triborough and Hellgate bridges also look good. The Whitestone, Throggs Neck and Verrrazzano bridges all have their towers but no suspension cables. The Freedom Tower now is more visible and has much more detail. One funny thing is that on the 59th St. Bridge the cars ride up on the cables and then disappear. Maybe the drivers really wanted to go to Roosevelt Island instead of all the way to Queens

So it doesn’t happen under normal conditions then?

Makes sense that you should have lower FPS when increasing the sim rate due to lots of scenery being loading a lot faster than is normal. I guess it should just crash though.

If it’s repeatable like you say then post it on Zendesk!

Exactly what happened to me today as I flew Gatwick Schipol @5000 feet.

Something very strange about long low flights. I will post it to Zen desk with the 100 other bugs I found but I doubt much will be fixed. They still haven’t fixed the wrong amount of fuel on the Longatude. More fixes coming from the community than the developers.

It doesn’t for me. I’ve flown up to 4 hours below that altitude and haven’t had any issues.

Hello there my computer is a I7 8700K 32 megs of ram and nividia 2080 super with a 7200 hard drive no ssd i’m still old school i don’t know if it was the patch or i just configured the game better but online i get 80 to 120 fps depends where i am i just fly in north america you don’t need 100 fps but i like the settings the way they are,
In the sim all settings are set to High the 3 sliders which are objects, texture rendering those are set to 100

my gpu runs between 75% to sometimes 98% in 1080p but i’m also running 4 screens. This is the first program i ever had that its uses all 6 cores on my cpu which is very nice cpu usage is like 30% max unlike prepard which it dumps everything on 1 core and i become cpu bottle neck lol msfs 2020 is very nice and hopefully ill just get better …I don;t know what system you have or what resolution you have but MSFS 2020 is very demanding on the gpu side of things.

let me know guys what fps your getting with this last update now i’m getting 30 to 40 LOL

You were getting 30 FPS the entire time. No rig with current hardware can achieve 100 FPS. If it showed 100 FPS it was a bug with your fps counter but your actual FPS in game has always been around 30.

I had that same problem in FSX when flying at FL 370it will CTD p3d don’t seem to have that problem it could be a scenery file that msfs can’t read at the time it needs it

DEAR Asobo and community i logged in today updated the 13.62 gigs of updates and i saw a major improvement in aircraft handbility is very nice i took the assisted rudder off planes don’t wabble anymore ,scenery performance is very smooth this seems its on its way to becoming the GOAT.
