Denarq Twin Beech - Beech 18 improvements mod. Now for MSFS 2020 and 2024

This may be slightly off-topic, but does anyone know of a way to increase / decrease the carb heat levers via a button? I find it difficult to manipulate both levers with the mouse during busy portions of the flight, and would love to be able to manipulate them with hardware buttons instead.

The only setting in MSFS I can find is anti-ice on/off, which obviously doesn’t accomplish this.

Unfortunately, without a 3rd party software like spad.next I don’t think you can do it.

Thanks. After this update I’ll look into it.

Would it be possible for you to link it to some other events that are available in the sim but unused by the Twin Beech?

Yes, that seems doable.
I already have an update ready for release. I’m just finishing the manual and waiting some feedback from a couple of friends that are testing it, so this will not be out with this update.
But being an easy task, I will release a file with that code here in forum soon after update for anyone who wants it.

I use FSUIPC, so for me it’s ok. But for many users this would make your brilliant mod even more enjoyable.

Just seeing how you all fly this bird . I fly it in Northerner Ont. or Alberta and there’s lots of cold mornings and gives me a challenge at times to get it started . The part I’m having a hard time with is when I have a 90 deg xwind of sometimes 40 knots and no other runway choice to use . I do have a real license in my pocket but maybe it’s in the yoke or rudder setting cause I can’t seem to get it off the runway properly let alone steer it straight down the center line and maybe some of you boys have a better Louis -Alberta

Hi louisbm1677,
Those are real hardcore conditions to fly.
Acording to real beech manual, the max. lateral 90º windspeed allowed for beech to fly are 13kn or 15mph. And even with good direction with winds over 40mph or 35kn you shouldn’t try to fly with beech. So with 40 kn of lateral wind your are out of its ability to fly.

And don’t forget that with temperatures bellow freezing you should always use oil bypass during startup and warmup to avoid ice cloging in oil radiatores. Only close oil bypass when oil is over 40º.
After that, you can forget oilbypass because ice has already melted.Assuming of course that oil don’t get again under freezing temps.

New v1.4 is out.

Denarq enhancement Beech D18S
Log V1.4

New features:
-Introduction of “Aircraft identity”:
Planes of the same model are generally manufactured to meet certain specifications and standards, so they should behave very similarly. However, there can be some variation due to factors like manufacturing tolerances, materials, and individual components that can contribute to little differences in behavior. So, while they’re designed to be consistent, you might still find some subtle variations between planes of the same model making each plane to have its own identity.
With v1.4, this “Aircraft identity” will focus mainly on engine performance and fuel quantity indicator error.

In reality, there are no two identical engines, especially when we talk about these older engines. Each engine has its own personality with slight variations in power, temperatures, etc.
Now, every time we perform a “reset” on the engine, a random value is generated that will influence many engine parameters, including power, temperatures, oil consumption, etc. This value will stay with the engine throughout its life until a new engine reset is performed and it will stay constant. The introduced variation can range from 0% to a maximum of 2%, so although the differences between engines will be marginal each one will behave slightly different from each other.
All the remaining variables that already existed will continue to coexist with this new engine variation concept.
-Fuel quantity needle. Every real pilot knows that fuel endicator needles give us good estimations, but aren´t to be totally thrusted. They all have small errors. In Denarq mod, on your first flight, a deviation error is created for each fuel tank measure instrument. This error will stay the same during all aircraft life until state settings file is deleted. Than a new deviation error will be generated.
This error is small but sufficient to give us slightly inaccurate indications of the fuel quantity, either more or less.

-Fuel pressures drops gradually when active fuel tanks are near empty. This will trigger fuel pressure warning lights around 1 minute prior to minimum usage fuel for that tank. This is your best and thrusted method on knowing when to change fuel tanks (see item above).
-Nose high attitude may cause fuel feeding problems to engines if near empty rear tanks are in use. It also cause wrong fuel quantity indication for rear tanks.

-Completely new scratch made propeller feather and propeller feather buttons behaviour according to real Beech POH. (See manual)

-Engine prime now requires aux fuel pumps to be ON. Engine prime knob will move nonetheless but it will not prime without fuel pumps.

-Fuel selector and crossfeed valve knob are now persistent beetween flights.

-Update Denarq Mod manual.

Improvements:
-Improved ground handling with free castering tail wheel.
-Improvement of fuel flow/mixture using new options added in SU13. This should fix Msfs core limitations on fuel consumption.
-Fuel tank quantity needle animation adjusted.
-Adjusted RPM/manifold pressure ratio calculation on detonation to allow a wider range os settings covered in real POH.

Fixes:
-when engine was outputing less than 117HP, oil consumption was negative. FIXED.
-Fuel detonation wasn’t affecting engine power when engine wear is above 95%. FIXED.
-In some very rare ocasions, during startup, aircraft starts to spin in the air. This is due a MSFS glich during flight loading where some hardcoded variables can reach super values for a fraction of time. POSSIBLE FIXED.
-Batteries persistent voltage levels not saving. FIXED.
-AP not following HSI heading but real heading. FIXED

Terrific, but I think the manifest.json still says “1.3”.

Guys, unfortunately and keeping the tradition of my previous updates, I’ve made a small mistake when compilling files and didn’t choose the latest fuel modelbehaviour file.
It’s nothing major. Just a different calculation on how pitch attitude affect rear fuel quantity.
I’ve just uploaded the correct files to flightsim.to but because it’s a minor thing I kept the same version 1.4, so you shouldn’t get a notice from flightsim.to there is a new version.

If you downloaded your file after this message you have the correct one.
For thoso who already downloaded the update you can download again the entire mod from flightsim.to or use this fix and overwrite when prompted.
I also include the updated manifest.json. Thanks WobbliestAce53!

Sorry for the incovenience and most important, Merry Christmas!

Has the trim already improved?

Only wish to support your great mod. Thanks and enjoy your holidays with all the best in the New Year.

What did I do wrong here… I had pretty much NO pitch authority unless I was full aft on the controls or full forward. Aircraft was well within the C of G? What gives?

I am having the same experience guessing I’m doing something wrong.

Perhaps a control binding conflict? I just flew it with no issues at all.

@AlexBap8588 Thank you again for your incredible work on this project. I am blessed to have the opportunity to continue to support this as well. You have created living radial engines and flying this machine is both challenging and rewarding. It has been amazing to watch your progress and to enjoy the fruits of your labor. I wish you and your family the very best over the holidays!
