Developer Mode fps/performance display in VR

I want to use the Developer Mode fps/performance display under VR. (Steam version of MSFS using OpenXR via SteamVR with a Reverb1). If I activate developer mode, the performance display is on the 2D screen. However, after switching to VR, the performance display is somewhere up in the clouds and barely (actually not really) visible in the Reverb and I can’t access it using the mouse in any way to shift it into my field of view.

Does anyone know how to shift the fps/performance display under VR? Thanks for any hint.

Afaik this is not possible. The counter wil always be visible on the 2D screen only. You’d probably be best off by using an app like fpsVR in Steam.

Argh, that’s what I was afraid of. Actually the performance display is there under VR, it’s just very high and not readable. I was in hope, there’s perhaps a config file to set the place.

I suggest you just get fpsVR like FlyerFoxy mentioned. It’s only a few dollars and extremely useful for monitoring/tuning any games running in steamVR.

I already bought fpsVR and it works as such; I was rather looking for the way values are on display on the MSFS performance display.

Use the frame timing overlay in OpenXR Developer Tools (free from Microsoft Store)

I can’t use if because I use OpenXR via SteamVR.

The OpenXR developer tools don’t work for me at all, just open for a second and close again, it’s a Windows Store thing, but that’s another story.

I also tried to use fpsVR, but this only works if SteamVR is running. I have the box version of MFS and with SteamVR I always get a CTD on the loading screen. Without Steam, with WMR it works fine.

There is no reason why you have to use SteamVR for a WMR device for any OpenXR game. People do mix this up way to often. Steam is just a shop and content management system, you can start MSFS2020 from there after you got the normal WMR app running. Steam and SteamVR are separate things, SteamVR and the WMR app are technically the same thing, a VR compositor (maybe let’s call it “driver suite” for better understanding) for SteamVR HMD’s or WMR HMD’s. The “OpenXR dev tools for WMR” have this name for a reason, they work natively with the WMR app.
