How long did you leave it in the Off position?

It is possible the Beaver has been reworked with the new fuel system, which models fuel line length and diameter and provides for the fuel that is contained within these lines.

Shutting off the valve will stop the flow of fuel into any lines that reside after the valve, but that residual fuel will still continue to feed the engine until the fuel is completely consumed.

Good catch. I just tried it: the engine kept going for a couple of minutes and then died.

EDIT: I repeated the exercise while paying more attention. In this run, 2 minutes and 15 seconds after I closed the fuel valve, the fuel pressure dropped to zero instantaneously, the engine died and the fuel pressure warning light came on.
