Diary; My Tour of Australia

Last year I accidentally started what would become a Tour of the Mediterranean, from Spain going clockwise right along the coastlines of the various countries…it was Fab! Then came the announcement that an Australian WU was coming out and that was the next Tour decided.

Now due to time constraints and not knowing how long or when I can fly I won’t be Flight Planning much, I’ll be doing the Legs “on the fly” whenever I get the chance, starting with the C208B Caravan but may switch to other Planes during the Tour with the Low & Slow mindset. I’ll be hugging the Coastline with perhaps some random trips inland, but i don’t aim to ever go higher than 10,000ft. Real Weather will be on mostly, but living in the UK I won’t always use Real Time or else most of the Tour will be in the dark and I wanna see stuff!

One thing I am planning is to visit every current (V8)Supercar Race Track as I embark on this Epic - for me - journey. I was lucky enough to visit Australia in 2014/15 and see the V8s in all their glory at Bathurst & others so I’ll be reliving those times alongside other locations I visited.

I’ve no idea how long this is gonna take, the Tour De Med was from Feb 6th 2021 to Dec 27th 2021 with 62 Legs starting in the XCub Crafters and about half way round switching to the C208B Caravan. I was aided at the start by being furloughed at work so had plenty of time to fly, I don’t have that luxury any more!

One final note, I’ll be flying in VR so the screenshots will be cropped and fairly low res, I’m hoping Asobo sort this out with a future update. I’ll also be tracking each leg with Volanta from ORBX, this will paint the picture of the Tour - Enjoy!

Leg #1 - YSSY to YWOL

As the Crow flies I didn’t make much ground due to the need to visit the race tracks, these inland excursions won’t happen often though. Note my extremely poor Landing Rate, still getting used to the recently bought new Yoke! Managed to use Real Time as the sun was just rising and made for good viewing.

A quick pic in 2D before the off:

Sydney Olympic Park (V8s raced around here once):

Sydney Motorsport Park or Eastern Creek to the oldies, I drove past this in 2014 but didn’t stop unfortunately (en route to Bathurst):

The Three Sisters:

The Greatest Race Track on Earth, having raced here for thousand of laps in racing simulators, walked it myself, flown around The Mountain by Helicopter, got drunk in the stands when Chaz Mostert & The Dude won in Epic fashion in 2014 - it’s safe to say I am correct with my opening statement!:
