Would that even be possible?
I´m just thinking because even with everything on ultra the resolution outside a narrow radius isn´t great. And not only in remote locations…
Same here with 1 GBps fiber. Randomly I have low-res textures also in a circle below the plane.
So much for “4,000 times the terrain details of MSFS”…
Totally forgot about that but I think that’s in regard to tesselated ground detail when on foot which DOES look phenomenal. Gosh, I hope this is temporary because the performance is great.
I wouldn’t trade MSFS crisp hi-res ground textures for blurry ones and a “phenomenal” walking simulator though…
No of course not but I have to say that I am impressed with it
I noticed that; I was believing it was my computer.
I hope it’s just server throtteling
If this is a server issue it better not persist. Right now everything looks pretty bad. Functionally taking a step backwards in terms of LOD is inexcusable.
I’ve been experiencing the same thing. I assume the servers are throttled to retain stability but I really hope that this is indeed a server issue and not core intended behavior of the sim.
Alaska LOD is as bad as in 2020. And I am not talking about the area around the player. I am talking about everything in the distance. I don’t know, I might be wrong but I have a gut feeling that won’t be changing…
Yeah, “core behaviour”. As I just said, I have a gut feeling, somehow…
I took a look at a random “preview event” video which doesn’t give me a lot of hope that this might get better with server stability improving…
I think it’s simply the way they hardcoded LOD handling…
Hmm I have not seen LoDs that bad yet tbh. Flew between SF and LA, you could kinda tell that the terrain maybe 20-40km out was a bit softer (I was at FL110) but not close to this. This seems like a bandwidth issue imo. (Not bandwidth as in your ISPs stated speed to your house, that number is almost irrelevant. Bandwidth to the servers heavily depends on how your ISP routes your data, proximity to the MSFS CDN, etc)
Don’t think so. This is Alaska. Has looked like this since the beginning of fs2020.
It does get crispier the closer you get so I don’t think this is a problem of data quality either… Like in “lacking in certain remote areas”
How far up north are you? That’s a good point, very likely if you’re high enough latitude wise, there’s very little usable data. Not even sure what you’d do about it tbh, too much area to hand sculpt/texture. Maybe automate it, but then you may loose accuracy…
Well not that far north. Juneau area.
And I dont think its a data issue. The data is clearly there as it does load as you approach it.
The distance at which it reduces the detail is simply shorter by miles.
I know that data quality is diminished very far up north, Barrow for example.
