Digital foundry Asobo interview August 1st Reasons why have poor LOD

There are always many ways to interpret what anyone says in the media today.

It’s all entertainment at the end of the day designed to put money in their pockets from ours.

Do we know if the release is singular or is there an Xbox and PC version?

Sorry, where has this been said?

Just set time to midnight and weather to “foggy” and you wont notice the downgrade

This isnt an excuse at all and shouldnt even be accepted as. If they are having wrong management (which is quite obvious when we see how they rush every release), this is their problem, their own fault. Which lead to such situation as the U5. And customers are fully in their right to say that they mesed-up, because they did.

Did you read my post fully? You should, before replying like that.

“We’ve made the decision long ago that we will never dumb down the sim.”

That’s not entirely true. Yes I know some have gone into the cfg. file and increasedLOD and couple of other tweaks. I myself have too. While it does have an improvement. It actually creates more drastic popping. Cause Asobo have pretty much throttled the Ram limit, by lowering rendering mesh and few other things. If you have 16gb or more is not being utilise, not matter what you change in the cfg. file.

I feel very disappointed and angry with Asobo/MSFS. There silence does them no good!

In interviews with Jörg and other members from Asobo.

You joke but this is honestly what I’ve been doing… Practising some virtual reality IFR in the A320nx and 787 heavy mod, until I get my beloved VFR sim back

Yup. That’s why austin decided, that after 26 years it’s time to integrate seasons, because he needs to keep giving people a reason to buy his game. No cash, no development.

I was one of many who was pushing Asobo to make improvements to the engine in order to have increased performance. If only I had known that they would simply decrease graphical quality!

I’m unhappy with the downgrade. At the same time, I feel for Asobo, they worked their butts off on this to make the sim work on limited hardware, while trying to keep it from being a downgrade. It wasn’t wholly successful, but my guess is that we could have gotten something far worse with a different team or different timelines.

I now really hope they will be able to optimize more so that the resources available on each system are used fully. E.g less aggressive culling and better AA for higher end systems, etc.

Time will tell.

I did and if in a way i do understand and tbh i really wouldnt want to be a part of Asobo. Poor guys are stuck in a cross fire between MS (?) management and the customers.

I agree context give them no choice but it’s the notion / idea of : you can be mad, but move on and accept, that is a no no imo.
What they did is wrong, and by accepting it, it just open the door for them to go on with such practices. Plus who said that now the XBOX is out the full team will go back on the PC version ? XBOX will probably still require time. We dont know at what pace the dev will move on. Neither how both versions will interfere with each other on the long run.

That was actually the last resort, most improvements were made by optimizing memory usage and a smart technique to draw trees. That just shows how dangerous baseless speculation is.

It might help with LOD, but would that address the object culling due to them attempting to keep the PC below the memory footprint on an XBox Series S?

Really? Less CPU memory means lower graphics?

Wow…so the video shows the really did dumb down the graphics. That’s a low blow Asobo. Credibility is gone…not low…gone. :-1: :-1:

You have no choice. If you decide to stay mad you will just hurt yourself, is that worth it? Especially knowing that they will improve things, that sounds like a bad investment of energy.

Ranting angrily on a forum for months won’t change that. Instead we can submit zendesk reports and make constructive posts about what we dont like.

Jörg in an interview.

I get your anger, I’m also not happy about some things, but it’s too early for a revolt, way too early. If months from now we’re at the same point, then a huge outcry would be more justified.

That’s your opinion and it’s ok to voice that. However, reality is never that simple and I’ll leave it at that. No point going back and forth, let’s wait and let the next huge patch speak for itself. Kind regards
