Tested for about an hour, 1.15.10.0 works fine and no stutter observed with players all around
Slight decrease in flight loading time also, so far so good
There is NO improvement with the patch with Live Weather providing the correct forecast hour
The first image is from the LiveWeather world map at 1315Z, May 6
The second image is from the NWS satellite photo taken at the same time
In Live Weather, there is a large storm system shown over the northeastern US which (this morning), is now well offshore, with a small part still located over northern Maine. The clouds depicted in L.W. are actually several hundred miles east in real time.
The secondary storm system stretching from approx North Dakota to Nebraska on the Live Weather map is actually (this morning) located from Lake Superior to approx northern Tennessee, again several hundred miles east of where Live Weather shows it.
I loaded at my home airport KELM, where Live Weather is giving overcast, with low visibility and rain. That was absolutely correct - yesterday, but not today.
The Live Weather being injected is at least 12 (or more) hours old.
Interestingly, prior to the patch, the Live Weather and real-time weather were pretty closely synchronized here on the east coast of the US in local mornings. A 12 (or more) hour offset between real and Live Weather was more common in late afternoon local time, when the new MeteoBlue forecast model comes out.
I donât know what their âfixâ did to in sim weather, but I can tell you that since at least SU3, thereâs been a huge disconnect between conditions you see on the world map and whatâs presented in sim. The weather in the sim seems to be much closer to real world conditions than the map. Perhaps not totally accurate, but often close enough.
The world map, however, might as well be the weather on Mars. Itâs nowhere near accurate in any sense, and doesnât match what you see in the sim. You can find yourself a massive storm with heavy rain and winds on the map - conditions you wouldnât want to be flying in - and select an airport in the middle of that. Load into the sim, and you have beautiful weather with light cloud and perfect flying conditions.
And ATIS is currently completely useless. It doesnât match in-sim weather, but rather matches what you saw on the world map. So in the situation I described above, you can be sitting on the apron with beautiful conditions and no wind, and ATIS will report youâre under heavy rain and winds.
From the couple of flights I did last night, I saw that the in-sim weather seemed fairly close to real world METAR. ATIS and the world map were WAY offâŠ
Thatâs volunteer [un-paid] Beta testers, if you donât mind.
At least this morning, the weather being injected into the sim here in the northeastern US corresponds pretty closely to what is shown on the world map. I tried several airports in NY and NJ and all have low ceilings and rain - but the actual weather today is partly cloudy and dry. It did rain most of the day yesterday - but not today
Thanks - will check it out.
Thatâs generally been my experience overall. In sim weather seems to be reasonably close to reality. Winds and pressures are typically spot on to what you see in a METAR. Cloud cover and precipitation can be hit or miss.
But the real issue is how closely does the world map weather (particularly winds) and ATIS match what youâre seeing in the sim? Thatâs where I see the largest disconnect.
Until Asobo fixes the awful and immersion killing crosswind and gust simulation, Iâm forced to fly with zero wind to keep MSFS acceptable realistic.
This has been one of the biggest pains in my â â â â . I donât know how they can have 2 separate weather reporting systems that are so hopelessly disconnected and different from each other and none of the devs nor testers seem to either notice or consider this to be an issue worth addressing when it has such a major impact on the overall experience.
Hopefully the upcoming overhaul of the weather system due this summer will finally fix that. At least I really hope it does.
This is the first time that has happened in my experience.
Visiting the MS store and looking at the âupdatesâ page MSFS was updated and the version number
changed to 1.15.10 - opening the simulator and checking the version number confirmed the update and new version number.
I didnât have to do anything.
The only way I found out about the update was from seeing a youtube video referencing the update - which led me to this forum to see if there was one and what the release notes were - then on to download it (when I found out I had already been updated.)
Checking the time stamp, I then realized I had been using flight sim and thought âwhy is the performance so bad?â
I was attributing it to the new GPU driver - in fact - I had shut down MSFS and gone for a walk out of frustration over this.
Hello,
from my some comparing of data from metars and sim, it looks to me that weather today is postponed about 1,5-2hr late. Yesterday I did tests about 17:00z at my home LZPE with real outside of window test and that rain in sim and in reality was pretty close, maybe 20min late to reality which is fantastic! Today? âŠ
Iâve always found that wind, pressure and temperatures seem to match METARs reasonably well. Not always perfect, but close enough. Clouds and precipitation, however, seem to be delayed from real world conditions by anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours.
BTW, a little off topic, but havenât seen you around the forum here for quite some time now. Welcome back.
Create a temp folder in your community folder. Move your stuff there when you update. Donât copy to another drive because all the files will have to be re-created and this will take time.
Cheers

Same here in France!
Try logging out of Microsoft store and also Xbox - log back in and try the sim. This has worked for me.
Hi there! and Hi @Jummivana !
6 flights since yesterday and this morning and so far on my side it seems to be very close to what METAR/TAF provide ⊠Flying the good flight model Just Flight Piper Arrow and the great one Milviz Corsair, VFR flights around from North to East and South⊠The weather data based on Aeroweb to check it out and to compare (French Aviation Website that I was using in real only for VFR and that I still use in sim) the data was almost perfectly matching with MFS2020âŠ
https://aviation.meteo.fr/accueil.php#debut_page
By the way, I have no stutter anymore over big metropoles, very smooth in Overcast or CAVOK Ultra/High settings so that I canât complain about this patch so farâŠ
I repeat myself but Iâm still wishing so badly (Iâm not the only one) to have more elements of Mother Nature in CB/TS as convective winds etc (hopefully thermals here and there if itâs technically possible as well)
On the other hand Air mass movement feel realistic in general (turb based on relief and aspiraties: good job, fully appreciated! VFR pilots who have the chance to fly light birds over mountains/hills should agree about that even if it will be great to accentuate the effect of oragraphic wind/turbulence that could be dangerous to very dangerous (even lethal) in those areas if itâs not too demanding )
However as a matter of fact MFS2020 Turb/winds goes âwrongâ concerning some dangerous and unsafe severe weather conditions (feels like an arcade mode when you fly into TS, you shouldnât fly out there!) ⊠severe weather conditions that we can encounter in RL even just under the base of CB if you do fly a C172 there then it could be a sort of "badâ experience that you wonât forget and it could be a good lesson for students PPL pilots even for some passionate simmers, therefore please donât put the settings Updraft/downdraft down or limited because some players (not pilots or/and hardcore simmers) will complain that they canât fly their Cub anymore in CB or through thunderstorms, please!!! âŠ
Hopefully the next sim-update will provide at least one of those precious and realistic features in order to create our VFR flight plan for instance, also based on the weather conditions of the day which will add a major step forward in terms of realism to MFS2020 and thunderstorm/cells will not be used only to make nice pictures! TS wonât be only eye-candy anymore! Canât wait for that!
if a dev can share my wish, sounds good! (@Jummivana )
Keep it up devs!
Happy Flyings Captains!
It seems it is significantly less accurate since yesterdayâs patch, sadly.
Thanks for the information, this seems to be happening to more and more people lately. Automatic updating can be disabled in the Microsoft Store settings if this is undesired behaviour.
So for the weather, it seems since the patch we are now seeing weather that is at least 24 hours outdated.
See here current weather map:
Now live satellite:
Now satellite that is -24 hours:
So the weather map in-game matches up pretty much with the 24 hour old data. This also is what weather we seem to be seeing in-game.
heh,
maybe now due your wonderful workaround, what about think set now PC time to not back but forward??? Starting be funny maybe
