For me GREAT performance with lates nvidia driver.
Weather looks beautiful but has some stuff that is off. Even had REAL metar of in EKBI ( Flightradar24) in comparison with a webcam.
So i can not grasp my mind around what is real and what is of anymore.
I live near EHAM … that started off … but when airborne it was spotnon with sat images
Perhaps switch back to DX11?
With DX12 i have experienced performance slashdown. But nothing looked different. Switching back to DX11 fixed the performance issue. In fact with DX11 im getting even little better performance then before patch.
MSFS claims my bandwith isn’t sufficient enough to handle Photogrammetry and bing online streaming and turns it into offline mode.
Scenery looks like the default XP11 scenery now,
I know that the MS servers are cooking right now, but i never encountered this before.
Edit: the forum software showed me your post as the latest, after I replied it showed that you have already noticed the problem… not only the sim has major issues.
London for me has always been a molten blob and this sim update appears to have finally fixed most of it. Still not perfect but a lot better.
The jumping through hoops to get the Sim to update is still to me way to complicated.
Having to hit 4 separate buttons to get the F18 into full afterburner is simply ridiculous. Does nobody at Asobo play DCS World? Push the throttles to max chat and the afterburners light up like they have in every other Sim since 1980.
DX12 in VR is hopeless in update 7. No improvement in FPS which is unstable and jittery so unable to descern quality changes. Also have the much-mentioned mouse bug requiring Ctl+0 which is also intermittent in effect, sometimes only one mouse click works, sometimes none. Come on Asobo, are we just Alpha testers? Gone back to DX11.
IMO there’s a difference between “no performance increase” and “makes performance worse” which is what people seem to be reporting. I haven’t had time to do a full test flight under both versions yet, but for me DX12 in the FBW experimental is 7-10FPS lower than DX11, and even restarting the sim in DX11 it’s still 7-10 FPS lower sitting at the gate in Boston. I hope this isn’t a sim wide issue.
I’m also in the same situation of being forced to play in offline mode and even then, with an empty Community folder, so NO mods at all, with the most basic of scenery, my frames have tanked and performance is sketchy.
I’m running an RTX3090 and an AMD5950X, with 32G of very good RAM and, granted, I’m maxed out on the visuals, but I’ve lost 20fps easily. Have the very latest drivers for the GPU. I have a 200+mbps internet connection. This game was beautiful and ran fantastically well before the update and now it’s not worth playing IMHO.
Na, lets not be so pessimistic. At first i also was a little upset, i was waiting for this since the beginning too. But its actually not that bad. Sure there are issues that needs to be addressed, but there is not so much missing and its certainly not grounding me.
First of all, i am a fan of virtual controls since VTOL VR. I do have HOTAS, but i really prefer virtual controls in VR when its available. I got used to it and learned loving it with VTOL VR. There are many things you can do wrong with it. Now VR controls in FS now are not matching VTOL VR in no any way. Its fiddling around especially with the small knobs and switches. But at least the main flight controls joke, flaps, levers, gear switch works fine. At least I can accurately control the aircraft, i can perform soft landings and do high speed low proximity flying using virtual flightstick. At least this part is working quite well. But you are right there are also some issues that need to be addressed.
The main issue i see here is the problem with precision when using small knobs for input. Like Barometer setting or the HDG knob. As you said already very difficult to do any precise input. When you turn it, the value jumps all over the place in huge numbers, but you basically cannot do any precise tuning. This becomes frustrating especially when you use the trimming wheel. The value goes crazy as soon you touch the wheel and it can easily put you into stall in a matter of seconds. Better don’t touch the trimming wheel yet. This is a big issue, as you can forget any serious IFR with that. Managing the flight computers with this issue would be painful. However i believe it can be easily fixed. I don’t have a proper solution in mind, but we need something that lets us input things with knobs in a precise way so we can without too much fiddling set exact values for the autopilot and use the knobs of the flight computer.
Another issue is that in multi-engine aircraft you can only move levers one by one. You cannot move them synchronized in one move as you can do in reality. If you have more then one engine you set throttle for each engine separately, that is so annoying and involves too much fiddling around and looking at the levers comparing if they are about same setting. But i think this also can be resolved without too much efforts. There needs to be an option to sync levers. By default they all should be synced, and only when needed certain lever could be desynced and allowed to be moved separately.
I don’t give up on that. I think these problems can be solved and in the end we come out with something much better. So far i can go VFR with the porter. So much fun flying porter with virtual controls.
Not everyone agrees with you, that much is clear from reading lots of posts about the beautiful clouds here. So I think that the issue has to be found on your end, your settings.
Dangerously high temperatures need to be addressed before hardware starts getting damaged. Unacceptable. Temps in this sim have been high for far too long, but there’s quite a significant increase now.
oh noooooo … so it is a problem of the naturalpoint … ahhhrggggg … Hope they will fiix it. I took a look in their forum. no message about non working TrakIR till now. …
High AoA with Hornet is broken. Fast rolls - no go. Pirouettes - no go.
Seems like it’s not the plane itself but the way modern flight model in MSFS is coded. High beta and high alpha seems to be difficult to handle for the flight model in every airplane.
