Discussion + Poll: Sim Update 9 (1.25.7.0)

Hi there!

I’m very satisfied with SU9 (not because I didn’t have any CTD since SU9, only 3 because of the last nvidia driver so I rolled it back and it goes very smooth and stable on my side) … but I’m essentially satisfied because now the atmosphere feels much more alive in Live Weather, Air Mass mouvement give such a better immersion. As irl the atmosphere is never static in terms of turbulence from A to B.
Even in CAVOK some VFR flights at low level/altitude can encounter CAT and strong turbulence…

So please Asobo keep it up, if some users complain that it is too turbulent or it feels excessive just show them step by step in further Sim Updates how it goes when you fly a C152 in CB or a A320 in TS!!!

… there here is the big wish for convective winds and Turb in CB, strong and dangerous turbulence in Ts (thunderstorm) + thermals (feels better in Su9 by the way)

Well all those realistic features in Live Weather may help some users to enjoy learning as how it is highly recommended to avoid CB when you are VFR GA for instance because of strong Turb/Convective winds etc that could be lethal… Also it will make our flights more challenging for those who fly only in Live Weather like myself, more challenging as it could be in real life by being aware of the weather environment each time we go to fly!

So keep going the good job in terms of Realism and don’t forget to bring the Gust Winds back! Sounds great!

Beautiful Skies Ahead! :dove: :airplane:

or it was when it was in beta when we had a small patch?

No. It’s a legit hotfix inbound for SU9.
I was just reading about it in another thread also.

I don’t want them to rush out fixes in case they break more stuff, but I have a feeling we might see a hotfix release later today, that’s just my gut feeling, being that it’s Friday and weekend ahead. But Im likely wrong on that feeling, lol.

Would be great. I can’t use the SIM at all because of the Memory Read error.

Today I managed to finish a flight successfully, from CDG to SEA without any issue
Duration was roughly 9 hours, I didn’t change anything in the settings, so I really don’t understand what is going on.
Only multiplayer was set to off, rolling cache was 8 GiB.

Updating my Nvidia drivers fixed my CTD’s & the GPU fan going into max speed for a few seconds every 5-10 minutes of flight.

I wonder if there is a table that tells us how much the different configuration options affect GPU or CPU.
I try to figure it out by changing parameters but I get inconsistent results.
Any information is welcome and appreciated.

Most of them actually began with SU 8. It’s just that some users got lucky for some reason and didn’t encounter those issues until SU 9. SU 9 also added additional problems for those of us who had been experiencing the rest of the issues since SU 8.

It’s BOTH Sim Updates 8 & 9 that are broken. The last stable version was SU 7.

For the most part, anything having to do with AI, traffic, or object quality/distance is CPU. And everything else GPU. Someone created a guide in the forum with more specifics a year or two ago.

There are many of us who watch helplessly as some others try changing their rolling cache settings, because since Sim Update 8 WE HAVEN’T HAD A ROLLING CACHE AT ALL. That was when for many, the rolling cache settings just disappeared from the data menu, never to be seen again. And they weren’t alone; we also lost half of the rest of the data settings, and lost the ability to delete or uninstall ANY of the first party sim components (base sim, deluxe and premium upgrades, world updates, etc.) unless we uninstall them ALL at the same time. It’s like watching other users using a completely different program with different options. It doesn’t get any more broken than that.

They always break more stuff, rush or not

Good points, you’re right.

Well my gut was wrong for a Friday release.

I think the current schedule they use for releasing SU and World updates should be changed, having these set dates I don’t think helps, as they seem to stick with the release schedule no matter what state the patches are in.
Personally I feel they should just release updates as and when the devs have thoroughly tested them, sod the betas, don’t see the point in them either, SU9 was a clear example as to why a beta is pointless, as can be seen by the state it released for xbox.
That time spent releasing a beta could be time spent behind the scenes testing and fixing things.

Does anybody tried SU9 on cloud please?
Is it working or Connection lost dialog appears there too?

When you say updating your Nvidia drivers fixed the problem, which version did you upgrade from, and which version did you upgrade to?

I know the current 512.59 drivers are not the solution. Tried the ones released in March and they did not solve either. Did a clean install using the NVIDIA uninstall utility.

512.15 is what I’m currently using…have not had 1 ctd or any other issue. Just waiting for TBM930 mod v6.4 to be updated, currently using vanilla.
Can’t remember what I was using prior…a few versions down I would think.

Now I found that my Logbook is broken. After SU9 I have 22 hours logged!
Thank you Microsoft and Asobo for your last update!!!

I would like to share my experience regarding fuel system issue:
if you increase the fuel above 65%, you will get an engine failure when main tank 1 and 4 are empty.
One of the engines will have a complete shutdown I don’t know why. (fuel inbalance issue?)

What is sure, that after couple of minutes I successfully switched back engine 1 so now it seems to be okay, but before SU9 this has never happened to me.
Edit: now it is no okay, engine 1 doesn’t get any fuel…
