The C172 steam gage version is unflyable because the elevator trim control is not working as it should. When you attempt to adjust the trim wheel in the virtual cockpit the elevator trim appears to go to full travel in either direction. My community folder was empty. This does not happen in other stock aircraft I have tried so far. Another user has confirmed this behavior. What other information do you think would be helpful ??
Err, after doing a couple test flights amessage update available popped up. I check the content manager and there are updates for 40 items, totaling 19GB. Is this correct? Do I need all those updates?
Itās mostly planes and landing challenges.
dont need any of those if you dont want them. just extraās liveries, poiās and the like.
I did see an orbx plane that was new installed it and tried to use it wouldnt let me click fly on the flight planner with it though. Thinking I have to restart the game and then maybe itāll workā¦
Found that after the update, at Control Options, when you press the defined button it is no longer highlight in the mapping. And SU5 lost some of my mappings.
I have the Honeycomb Alpha and am not experiencing any problems with the elevator trim buttons in the Cirrus SR-22 (what Iām flying at this moment). Hereās my configuration for the trim:
I had already deleted the liveries before. No clue what this was about. I restarted the game first to make sure it wasnāt some glitch (since most updates said +0 KB on disk) and after restarting, no updates available. No clue, guess I should have taken a screenshot.
Time to fly!
Can you try the C179 or C152. Thanks in advance.
A CTD fix that worked for me:
So, after my first SU5 flight (in VR w significant fps and smoothness improvement), I began the task of testing out various add-ons. This begat a CTD fest wherein for a couple of hours I could not get a flight to go past battery start-up without a CTD. I tried different planes, eliminated suspect add-ons, to no avail. I finally emptied the Community folder and went back to the plane and departure airport that had worked so well initially. Flipped the battery switch and boom, back to the desktop. I decided to peruse my Content Manager. Perhaps, I thought, there was some Marketplace add-on that was causing the problem. Well, the problem was in the Content Manager but it was with the various World Update updates that Iād done earlier in the day, before my first flight. Even though everything appeared to have downloaded and installed properly, I was now looking at 5 āpartially updatedā World Updates. Weird. I was able to select them to update and the process went fine. When it was over I was able to start and complete an hour flight with no problems with the same excellent VR performance Iād experienced earlier. After that spin in the Pitts biplane, I added the WT G3000 (updated for SU5) and flew the TBM from Denver to Aspen. Everything worked! So, if youāre tearing your hair out over CTDs that seem to have no discernible cause and youāve eliminated the usual suspects, take a look in your Content Manager for any partially downloaded updates. Hopefully this will work for at least someā¦
First thoughts and observations on SU5.
Performance has vastly improved for me. Iām able to get between 50-60 fps over the Seattle Landmarks scenery! Iām used to getting in the low 20s, so itās a very noticeable improvement. This does come at the cost of scenery popping in when panning the camera. While itās kind of annoying, itās not a complete deal breaker for me. Perhaps they can find a compromise and have that scenery gradually fade in making it less noticeable. Itās the sudden popping in thatās jarring to the eyes.
Graphics seem to be a bit more brighter/washed out. I made a few minor adjustments in Reshade and it looks just as good as prior to SU5, maybe even better.
Iāve encountered a few minor bugs.

First, on the G1000 aircraft, you can only tune in the COM radio in one direction. No matter which side of the dial you click or which direction you move the mouse wheel, the frequency only goes down, not up. Itās very annoying fiddling with it when trying to change frequencies. No, I donāt use the in-sim ATC, I already know you can tune via the ATC panel. Thatās not an option for me.
-
I also noticed that changing the drone camera speed doesnāt seem to make any difference. I just canāt move around as fast as I would like anymore. Bug or by design?

Cockpit tooltips. I kind of relied on a few of them to show me what setting the dial was at saving me the trouble of having to zoom in. That no longer functions and hopefully they bring it back.
All in all, a really decent update. The scenery pop-in not as bad as I expected, but Iāll wait until I get in a few more flights and see how it goes. Hopefully the bugs I mentioned will get fixed.
Iād say the Cessna 152 definitely has a larger trim increment now; definitely the trim moves faster on the Alpha buttons than the SR-22ās trim does.
C172 feels the same as C152. Trim is a little faster I think than it used to be, but maybe not excessively so.
This is a joke 12 hours later still cant get the program to download without freezing for 12 hours.
Why are there so many associated apps with this game , why could it not be a single package?
It was working fine until this download and I wonder if all these associated apps are to do with the fact its now an X Box game?
I have used all my download limit trying to instal this game and if I had not invested so much in third party apps with Orbx and others I would be asking for a refund.
Never in my life have I had so many issues trying to instal such expensive software.
if this was a car it would be bought back under the lemon laws.
Is the active pause button removed from the toolbar ?
So far so good, great FPS improvement on my Ryzen 5800X and Radeon 6800 to the order of 75% in my test area - KLGA over Manhattan then bound for JFK over Queens. Graphics a bit more washed out, for whatever reason ATC voices are coming in at a lower volume than before. Could be my sound config but gotta call it a night, will test more tmo. Great to see the WT G1000 pop up in the Marketplace under Free content a few minutes ago.
I really can tell better performance and greater looks in general in my low end PC i5 1050ti 16Gb. Excellent! Thank you developers.
No, I still have an active pause button on the toolbar.
So other than the incompatibility with various 3rd-party add-ons and the mysterious failure of any airports at least in the Los Angeles area to have ATC, so far so good. HUGE improvements to performance! Flying around LA gives me a MUCH higher frame rate and Iām no longer seeing big stutters as I go from place to place.
I donāt know if anybody else is having the āall airports are uncontrolled airportsā bug that Iām having.
The drone still works the same for me. However I use F1 and F2 to decrease/increase translation speed, and F3 and F4 to decrease/increase rotation speed. Holding F2 down it still gradually goes up to very fast!
I did notice slew mode to be slower now but forgot to test whether slew speed is still tied to sim rate. (Flying, no slew testing atm)
The game crashes on the World Map here.
Long live the command prompt (gurus). That was really a nice tip which at the bottom line itself is pretty clear but why not part of the download activation procedure of MS? Thatās a question that I would post on Zendesk.
Ok this though? This is annoying as HECK. The toolbar indicator never goes away unless I switch focus to another app, so my screenshots all have the menu bit on it:
How can I get rid of this? It used to fade away after not moving the mouse for a couple of seconds. ![]()
It shows even if I donāt move the mouse after switching away with alt+tab and switching back!
