Sounds like that airport creator may have re-used default textures, as that is all the Zinertek addon does. Still can’t see why a texture replacement would cause a crash though, but if it does, it does.
I got an update today when I started up MSFS but v1.17.3.0 is still showing as my version, so nothing changed there.
There is a different topic for this:
You seem to have a very good handle on your systems pros and cons, too.
Guess we just have to hang in there until we can afford to buy something more capable for MSFS. There are actually some pretty good MSFS specific PC reviews on-line, if/when you get around to taking the plunge.
Well I’m thinking of going 2060S and 32GB on this laptop.. or.. something in this direction.. or.. some euuhm console thing maybe.. I won’t name the brand
I had 2 time yesterday a new interesting bug I never saw before, I was in VR.
When taking off from Courchevel in France (LFLJ), I did a U-turn after 7/8 minutes to land again at it. Challenging, and I succeeded. But before landing, let’s say around 2 km from it, I saw part of the Airport scenery (house, tree, pump, etc.); furthest part, several meters higher than the ground.
All was fine before taking off.
I landed, observed this bug from external view, and suddenly it fixed by itself, all was well in place. The other part of the Airport (other building, etc.) wasn’t impacted.
I started a new session from here with a new plane and I went to the nearest airport (Méribel LFKX) on the left. Same bug when approaching, pump, tree, etc. from the furthest part of the Airport higher than the ground, this time only one or 2 meters high (less than Courchevel bug).
I wanted to remove the headset to do a screen capture but it fixed again by itself right before I take the headset off.
Brand new. I’ll create a Zendesk ticket as soon as I’m able to catch this one on picture.
Sometimes not so suddenly. I have seen that “fixing” when I moved out the camera for a while, go droning for ca 10 minutes elsewhere and then return inside the cockpit. The scenery around the aircraft was “rebuilt” and that rebuilding started after about 20 (!) seconds and took 8-10 seconds ! See below video, the rebuilding starts at about 24sec. You see houses, churches, roads popping up, starting at Bing level. Settings were still on camera quality (Ultra) and it seemed MSFS needed time to completely refurbish everything, very very slow.
(sorry for the quality of below video)
The solution to this problem was accomplished before me by more competent people. I’m not speculating about texture mappings.
Hello, I come to inform you that this new update version 1.17.3.0 is a disaster.
Let me explain: Before this version the graphics of FS-2020 were magnificent and the mountains as well as all the cities etc. were very beautiful a bit like in reality. Now with this latest update 1.17.3.0 everything is ugly and everything is gray in color we don’t even see the details of the towns and mountains anymore. It’s very ugly !!!.
I’m very angry because I invested over € 1500 for this FS-2020 aviation simulator with all the airports I bought as well as the planes and everything in between.
My hardware is ok with a GTX-1080-TI graphics card, an I7-7700 processor, 32 GB of RAM, two 1TB SSD hard drives, etc.
I see that my system has DirectX-12 may be that the graphics problem comes from there but that I do not know only Asobo will be able to answer it.
While waiting for me I am really angry and I think it is justified.
I’m attaching all the information about my system to you and I am attaching a video for you to better understand this graphics problem which is more than ugly. It’s just ugly.
I hope Asobo will understand this graphics problem better and will fix it.
I specify that I made several tests before arriving at a final result of these rotten graphics.
I thought at first that it was one of my addons then I uninstalled all the addons and tried again and nothing had changed.
Then then I reset the FS-2020 simulator so I no longer had any addons and even those I had bought for a fee. With these paid addons I am currently spending € 1,500 for MSFS-2020.
I resume, as I reset FS-2020 I did a flight again to see if anything had changed but not nothing changed and still these rotten graphics in white and gray on all the cities around the world.
I decided to completely reset my computer thinking it might be from my computer.
Once my computer was new, I reinstalled MSFS-2020 on this clean computer.
Then I did another test with the virgin installation from virgin with MSFS-2020.
You know what ? The graphics were still rotten with the white on the mountains and the rotten gray on the cities.
From that moment I understood that it did not come from my computer but from this new update version 1.17.3.0.
Asobo, please review your last update because I repeat it is completely abnormal to create rotten updates when people are pumping a lot of money into MSFS-2020. The least thing for you is to make updates that work for everyone.
I say once again just before this update 1.17.3.0 everything was working perfectly fine on my computer. I had beautiful graphics, the cities and the mountains were beautiful.
This version 1.17.3.0 update is just a lot of ■■■■.
Try making sure your Bing data is turned on. Updates sometimes inexplicably turn it off.
Thanks SamuraiSax, but how do you activate Bing data?
It seems to be a different problem (slow LOD more in your case), but possibly linked by the rebuild time more or less. What I saw is buildings, pump, ambush, trees etc. only part of both Airport scenery (not field around, far trees, etc. only some part of the airport) floating at several meters above the ground, but at the right place, before going down in one frame. I could see their shadows at the right place on the ground. And I didn’t used the drone view, when I said external view it was the usual one turning around the plane… Weird…
Yes is very strange
Nothing special about it.. just check the top 3 for better scenery
@ UtileAcorn82752 please specify more clearly.. you say you researched the matter, but you don’t show any pictures before and after 1.17.3. Your rant is useless (and speculative) without any examples. I wonder why you went through all that trouble.. Did you install the new quickfix update for 1.17.3 before drawing conclusions.. and did you set Bing, photogrammetry and Ultra after that ?
..did you consider MSFS is also updating (downloading) elevation data on the fly ? Maybe you were looking at old data.. do you use rolling cache ? Have you cleared it before the update ?
Thanks CodeLoran69, I’II try this
Hmmm. Did you send in a Zendesk ticket with the same details? I hope that they can help you out.
I’m making this point because the majority by far has no issues whatsoever with this specific update. Do you have screen shots to show us what you see? You seem to oost for the first time, so I am curious to know.
Besides, Asobo advises to rename the community folder, and put the add ons back in the original one afterwards, not to uninstall everything. An uninstall I hardly ever needed anyhow.
No, rolling cache is always disabled for me, it induce high stutters I guess it’s when it write it or read it, probably because I didn’t used my NVME drive as I don’t want the sim itself to be on the same drive. I don’t have those stutters with rolling cache off, so better off for me.
I don’t think this elevation problem is about old data in any case. As I said all was fine when I started from Courchevel, scenery building and trees at the normal place. Just flying further during few minutes, U-turn and landing at the same place. Those elevations was corrupted in between. I need to reproduce and catch it on screenshot!
Indeed. Check again. If it was downloaded data, you won’t see the error again (?)
Yup and one heck of a sinkhole where the castle should be
