Discussion + Poll: World Update VIII: Iberia (1.24.5.0)

In every world update there are locals (or people familiar with the area), pointing out buildings that were not made POIs from, “wrong” airport’s included etc.

But please consider that these are free updates, in any other software product out there they would charge for these kind of updates. Just the airport’s and POI are like 50 euros of market value!

I think it’s amazing that we keep getting these world updates!

If you find actual bugs, then best is to create a ticket for it and it will be fixed at some point!

That looks like a typical photogrammetry issue where it does not recognize the arches and instead fills them in. This has been an issue for some time, most notable around bridges. I think someone would have to go and create the monument from scratch to rectify the issue. Hopefully they will do that, really such a notable feature should have been done already.

Photogrammetry still has many issues.

Well I got it working and it’s flying nice and smooth.

However, the hangar view did not load textures, after a flight and going back to the main menu:

I’ll check next time I load up.

Anybody notice the “monolith” in the World Update background while downloading?

That’s simply a default block building. They didn’t obviously select this POI as one to model.

Maybe someone can model it and make it available?

Isn’t Madrid a Photogrammetry-City (and has been already before WU8)? Your screenshot looks like you disabled PG…

That’s a scroll bar.

This is part of why I never purchase DLC airports that are in or near a major city as it will most likely be part of any WU and probably cause conflicts and CTD issues. I look for smaller out of the way airports, so far that has worked for me. Or go back after a WU as you will know which ones had been updated and to avoid them. Watch out for airports in Italy my friend.
I wonder if the devs get any heads up as to what will be in future updates?
As note, I did make a purchase of Vancouver airport that I expect at some time down the road will need to be uninstalled with a Canada WU but I expect that to be a long way off, that is why I purchased it.

That’s my hope as well that once things are settled that we see any third party developer offer POI and sea ports that were left out. Lots of opportunities in that aspect (Azores please!!!)

That is the same for every update. They can’t model everything without charging.

I don’t see it so much as complaining, more as people like to see things they are familiar with become part of the sim. That’s a fun aspect that we can enjoy, so people get excited when it happens or conversely disappointed.

There is plenty of opportunities for third parties to come in after a WU and finish off some of these notable areas as have been mentioned, that is what makes this sim complete. So if third party developers watch these releases and the passion people have for certain POI, etc, they can be guaranteed it will sell and be well received.

Thanks for pointing this out. I went back to the screen (still downloading BTW) and it is indeed a vertical scroll bar perfectly placed on the edge of the terrain to look like a monolith.

BTW. What are this mountain guys just near Madrid? ::

Don’t worry, there is probably one out there somewhere… :joy:

I stand humble and corrected.

Hard to tell which is better, both are good airports, but with this update I go with the one by Gaya.
TDM LECO floats if you don’t install the update.

I just started a flight from Madrid (I can even see you flying in the screenshot below) and am not seeing this graphical issue at all on my screen.

What? Iberia is a peninsula of Europe, on the Euroasian tectonic plate. You are maybe confusing country with geographical location?

The Canary Islands are on the African tectonic plate … Geologically they are African Islands, NOT Iberian … Perhaps that is why?

Areboot fixed it after uninstalling the Asobo so all good!
