Discussion + Poll: World Update X: United States and US Territories (1.26.5.0)

Tell that to all the users that were left with a stuttering mess after WU4. It’s an easy forum search to find

Think its time to pack this away (again) until the next update. I just haven’t got the energy to endlessly tinker.

Im not spending anymore money on this sim until things improve.

Preach it!!! Exactly where I’m at. I used to have burning pockets for addons. Now, it’s a hard pass. No flight hours logged since SU8. I’ve started a few, then the hand smacks the forehead as bad performance/bugs take over. Then exit

Its the most frustrating experience in gaming I think ive ever had mate, and ive been playing since the early 80s.

Same here, from Atari 1040ST days. I feel like I need to hire a file accountant or something. A part time tinker to take over and tell me when its good. After a days work, it’s draining to… well… work.

hello,

bridges are broken in New york :frowning:

Typical downside of photogrammetry.
All PG objects are seen as a “card box model”.
Looks ugly, feels ugly, behaves ugly.

Try to fly above L.A for my part it’s just unflyable

Is that RT weather ? When you put a complaint like this, please post screenshots with a clear sky and images with cloud cover as well. On the same place and time. What you’re showing there is very dependent on the cloud settings, like height, thickness of the cloud layer, density and coverage, time of day.

I’d say the sun is high up at noon, with a thin, broken cloud layer, green land further away look green because the sun shines through a region with less clouds… When there’s a rain cloud above you, the near land has shadow.

Define unflyable, not ideal but LAX is a flipping mob scene right now and if your settings outmatch your PC you are going to have a bad time.

Just now screen shots.

Look at all the (huge glowing please fix) lights behind me, LAX is a giant party* right now.

Just a little ways away and some altitude and frames are quite acceptable.

*East US server there’s just planes going every which way

While I’m guilty of making light of the greenery the overall lighting does matter.

I assume most of us has lived through a pink twilight or orange dawn, earth is pretty cool.

Also many of the US tiles are taken from our crop surveys which use green filters for specific reasons (invasive species/pot farms both have unique greens)

Well I’ve seen these green sun-shine-through clouds over grassland in in the Alps, Schwarzwald Germany, Madeira… Norway… there isn’t much agriculture or crop surveys there.

Real texture issues do exist in MSFS !! match errors !! but they are local (like Isle of Man) and I think technically speaking: it’s faulty sat image combinations, like mixed daylight conditions in the MIP-levels of the texture.

There have been complaints about a green hue overall, at some places. But the above image is no proof for a “texture bug”, unless you’d want them to rebuild part of their atmospheric lighting system. Which was quite an accomplishment, if you ask me…

LA is a total mixed bag. FPS heavy at ANY of the airports default or third party. Ok if you fly around them and over the city.

But you shouldnt have to do that.

So now we cant have clouds?

Ok so to get the sim to perform we need to:

  • Not use third party addons
  • Turn off clouds
  • Turn off photogrammetry
  • Lower lod
  • Fly with default planes only.

Crazy, crazy stuff on here.

I’m pretty lucky not to see most of these problems. My experience has been pretty good flying mostly FBW320 and the C172 in the NJ, NY and Fla areas. I guess these areas aren’t as impacted.

Here are three screens shots with different weather conditions. No Change still green
Bridges seam ok through.

Something really bad happened to the ground textures. Not only in D.C. like pics above

but other areas have also changed for the worse.

i don’t care where you fly in the world the fact is that roads and highways are not green!! Come on people! something has missed up Sim with wu10. I hope Asobo also recognizes this and will fix it soon.

Haha no you can have any clouds you like. Thing is, if one puts a picture with green color land far away it could be realistic. If you post a clear sky image and near land looks dark at noon, there would be an error. Don’t just state “this is a bug, come on folks solve it”.. Put info… and be sure about the issue, before you complain.

Fps… yeah… Clear sky is ideal… and don’t forget to mention render resolution. :yum: actually when you want to fly smooth, better not go anywhere near POI’s or photogrammetry cities or airports. For raw speed, try Antarctica stratosphere.

Another solution would be: remove that silly FPS counter and get used to MSFS at a steady 20 FpS VSync, I run low level hardware, a laptop. To get that 20FpS, I always go Medium graphics while flying high or landing on airports like O’Hare. You’ll need the FpS for landing, not for touristing around O’Hare. Over cities and POI’s, live with the quality you can get with your hardware. Smart handling of your settings will reduce your PC’s energy consumption as well. Some GPU’s consume 600-700W. Prices for energy going through the roof. Put the thing on 1920x1080 and Low when you go asleep in RL while simming autopilot over Greenland… else your “flying hours” counter will cost you RL money.

You’re probably wise in staying away from the reported trouble spots.

I have spent considerable time over the past few days in frustration trying to de-stutter my flights in and around the Catalina “Airport in the Sky”, KAVX. I’ve been mostly flying the new Beech 18, but have also run into stuttering even with the C208 and C172.

Ever since its first release I have been quite successful eliminating stutters by just de-tuning my graphics settings. To date, I have not been able to eliminate it at KAVX.

So, for now I think I’ll be headed back to my favorite locales - Vermont, Hawaii and Northern VA.

Update:
I decided to try uninstalling the WU10 for effect. Afterwards, with very little effort I was able to regain my nice, smooth, stutter-free 25FPS experience everywhere including KAVX.

So, proudly I reinstalled WU10, certain that the stuttering would return.
What is it they say about pride? Well it hit me smack in the face.

Nope, the stuttering did not return… at least not yet. But at least I have a solution in my hip-pocket if it does.

What can I say?

20 FPS is a slide show and is totally unacceptable to me. If that is all I get, I turn it off. This isn’t an Atari 2600 game. But, I only wish that I could accept that FPS and am glad that you do.
