Discussion: Update #4 (1.9.5.0)

Forgot to mention, why does ATC spell out O-N-E instead of saying “1” sometimes? For example “RyanAir 355 contact Cape Town Center on O-N-E 24 decimal 7” This started two patches ago.

Where’s the transparency?

Personally I don’t think it’s a big deal, but the pre-release patch notes indicated that the “Press Any Key To Start” screen would be “fixed” with this update. But it’s still there… why would they say that it’s being fixed, when it’s not? It doesn’t bother me at all, but it just leaves me scratching my head on why they would say that.

The bigger issue to me is the plethora of co-pilot and navigation bugs introduced from the last patch, most of which have been left untouched. It has left the AI “Control Aircraft” feature completely useless. I get it that it takes time to work things out, and game / sim development isn’t easy. But where’s the communication? It seems like they should put out some kind of statement explaining why the “Press Any Key” screen is still there, why all of these bugs appeared in the last patch, and when we can expect them to be fixed. Leaving people waiting two weeks for the next patch with their fingers crossed that these issues are going to be fixed - only to be disappointed - is just bad business.

I can be patient. I get it that it takes time. But at least tell us what’s going on.

Please know the real issue isn’t the Press Any Key as such, the underlying reason is the length of time it takes just to load to the menu…

I don’t have enough of a sample size, but, the one short flight I did with the new update went well.

The 787 flew well and didn’t float like it used to. The LOC and GP captured as it should. Updating the FMS with new data worked as intended and the whole time I got decent performance with a couple minor freeze.

The one thing I did notice was the absence of any traffic despite having real world traffic and data for it turned on.

I’ll be flying more tomorrow and will get more data.

I have the Logitech Multipanel (Autopilot) and it has had issues with locking up, freezing, and going blank. I have to unplug it from the PC and plug it back in. There are two different drivers for it now, the second being more stable. I have mine plugged into a Powered USB Extension, and the panel itself doesn’t need any extra power to run, hence why you need to change the setting from 1 to 0. Here is a couple of videos for you to try, even though your issue might not be the same as described here.

I still just cannot bring myself to fly the airliners here. Too spoiled by the payware I’ve acquired in the other platforms. Now the GA is a different story. The environment and the sense of immersion still just cannot be beat here. I’m still very happy with where we are today. I spent the better part of the afternoon in the Seattle area dealing with thunder showers, MVFR conditions, turbulence, actual winds aloft and low-level weather with Incredible realism and no bugs to speak of in the 172, except one.

I was unable to load or activate a GPS RNAV approach into KRNT so I had to string it together manually. Other than that, It was a brilliant display of what this platform is all about. steady progress. Steady progress.

@Bananimal6685 I made the mistake of doing the Verify Integrity of Game files once and got the same result as you! Right after that I posted telling everyone NEVER EVER TO DO THAT! The way MSFS is installed is completly broken by that process.

Exactly everyone should update manually on the content manager Japan-Procedural Buildings and Points of Interest items.

I still have that ‘press any key to continue’ BS…

what a joke.

No I’m with you there. I do fly the A320 with the Mod, but apart from that I’m sticking to GA until the SDK is ready to be released to the major players in aircraft development. To be honest though, this was the same for all the other sims. I rarely flew any stock tubeliners. For me the SDK is the major turning point for this sim. Once lets say A2A, PMDG, Majestic get their hands on a working copy of the SDK, I’m sure they will notice the things that Asobo hasn’t and say, now that’s why this isn’t working correctly. That’s why the dynamics are off. They will work around it, develop it, change it, to make it as accurate as possible for the sim. I then hope they pass this knowledge back to Asobo. The third party developers are the experts after all.

Sounds like its navigraph time!

So well put. I am in the same boat (plane) as you. No real problems performance or download wise. Yes there are bugs but as you say it is early days. I spent over £100 just getting good UK scenery for X-Plane. I got the world in this for £1 at moment thanks to game pass. X-Plane and FSX are not perfect and they have been out a long time. You have to buy expensive aircraft for them to get really good simulation.
So like you, I am looking forward to a great future with FS2020. Patience is a virtue in flight simulation.

Perhaps some of the high buildings are fixed but definitely not all. My test spot is Yelm Washington - a small town of about 10,000 people. Still has 5-10 story sky scrapers as with 1.9.3.

Autogen “reviewed”, ok so it’s still broken and displaying incorrect building heights in rural areas. Two CTD three minutes into flying.

C172 is now dolphin diving for me. Never had this issue with GA aircraft until now. It isn’t severe but the fact that it was introduced with this patch is concerning. Sitting here wondering what this patch actually does to deserve it’s 2.4GB footprint on my HD.

Update went smooth for me, took a couple of minutes. I’ve never had any ctds before even with the vfr map so I can’t comment on any improvements there. I must just be fortunate to have the right combo of hardware and drivers.
Performance is a little better, gets a bit better after every update. I used to hover in the mid 40-50s fps now I’m getting upper 40-50s. No stutters. When I first had it I was getting mid 30’s and lots of stutters so the updates have been much appreciated.
Haven’t noticed any graphical differences yet but I’m flying at night so it’s hard to tell. Cities don’t seem as bright and look a bit more natural at night, cant say for sure since I’ve only done one flight but the lighting does seem improved.
Ive noticed names don’t appear above aircraft now unless they get close which I like, I didn’t like seeing a bunch of names for aircraft way in distance so that’s appreciated.
Other than that no issues or complaints to report, it’ll take a few more hours and some day time flights to see if I notice anything else.

This is the most curious definition of “solved” I’ve ever seen. Why not change it into a more logical one. Saves some noise and confusion on the forum.

Basilrug, you stop that right now. Your patience and maturity are unwelcome in these here parts. I want whining, and lots of it. Lives have been completely ruined because of this sim. You’re not helping my emotional meltdown by speaking rationally, with a realistic set of expectations. You must join the cult of entitled, hyper-enraged Karens or expect to find yourself with lower blood pressure, emotional well-being, peace and prosperity and we can’t have any of that.

Well done Asobo. Flawless download and update of your 1.9.5.0 (here internally called rc5 - :innocent:). Had 3 great flights with the TBM. Noticed slightly better FPS. No stutters.
No complaint about the ‘Press any key’ from me.
Keep up the good work.

And…still can’t download a patch from Asobo unless I use NetLimiter to limit my bandwidth to 1MB. Otherwise the old “patch recycle” bug still appears. A serious bug, yet still not fixed?
