Add the number of customer reviews next to Marketplace ratings in both the “All-Time” and “Last 30 Days” sections.
Currently, the Marketplace displays:
• Average rating (e.g. 3.9 / 5)
• Number of sales
However, it does not display how many customers actually submitted a review to create that rating.
For example, instead of showing:
All-Time: 3.9 / 5 | 910 Sales
Last 30 Days: 3.9 / 5 | 37 Sales
the Marketplace could display:
All-Time: 3.9 / 5 | 150 Reviews | 910 Sales
Last 30 Days: 3.9 / 5 | 10 Reviews | 37 Sales
Why is this needed?
A star rating without a review count does not tell the full story.
Two products may both show a rating of 3.9 / 5, but one could be based on hundreds of customer reviews while another could be based on only a handful. Customers currently have no way to see how many people contributed to the rating they are using to make a purchasing decision.
The current system shows the number of sales, but sales do not indicate how many customers were satisfied enough to leave feedback. Showing review counts would provide important context and make Marketplace ratings significantly more meaningful.
This would help customers better evaluate add-ons before purchasing and increase confidence in the Marketplace review system.
How could it work?
Simply add a “Reviews” metric beside the existing rating and sales information for both:
• All-Time ratings
• Last 30 Day ratings
No changes to the existing review or rating system would be required. The Marketplace already knows how many reviews have been submitted, so this would primarily be a user interface enhancement.
Benefits:
• Improves Marketplace transparency.
• Gives customers more confidence when making purchasing decisions.
• Provides important context behind every rating.
• Makes ratings more meaningful and easier to interpret.
• Helps customers distinguish between ratings based on large amounts of feedback and ratings based on only a few reviews.
• Requires only a small Marketplace UI change while providing significant value to users.
Examples:
The attached “Before” screenshot shows the current Marketplace presentation where only ratings and sales figures are displayed.
The attached “After” screenshot demonstrates how adding review counts could provide additional context and make ratings easier to understand at a glance.
