Dissatisfied with MSFS 2020

I am just so extremely with MSFS 2020. I’ve been simming for a long time; I was also a sim instructor in real life.

P3D, FSX and X-Plane had their little issues, but they worked for the most part.

For the roughly 4 years I’ve had MSFS2020, it has never, ever worked well for me. I have a decent rig, plenty of sim and flying experience, but just somehow this sim never fails to disappoint.

Just curious if anyone else in this forum feels the same way.

No complaints here. It’s been mostly solid for me. It has a quirk here and there but, I’ve had maybe 3 CTDs in nearly 5 years. Very few stutter or freeze events. It was good with my 3700X/2080 Super, but even better/smoother with the 5700X3D/9700XT. I’ve logged nearly 1100 hours of flight time. I’d love to move to 2024 but, all the issues it’s having, has me turned off. Sounds like maybe another year before I make the jump? Believe it or not, I’m scared to leave, because 2020 has been so good to me.

No complaints here either. I’ve been playing on FS since early 2000s, XP11 and 12 later on but I use both.
Took a 2 year break and just returned, MSFS2020 feels better than ever. Honestly, its so streamlined. Its one of the smoother running high end graphics games I have, probably the smoothest for what it outputs.
Maybe you are running too many 3rd party addons? Some which may be causing issues? What problems do you have exactly?

My wife runs hers on a 1060GTX or something like that with no issues, just not as smooth as mine.

I have a PC that I can define as high-end, in any case I fly only with FS2020 and FENIX without the slightest problem.
When I tried FS2024 I didn’t even get to the initial menu so for now I continue with FS2020 without any doubts.

The biggest issue I have with 2020 is the model matching which should have been sorted long before now and doesn’t look as if its even being addressed.
On Xbox it’s terrible, totally non existent.
You can only see the model you are flying with and none of the aircraft in your hangar. This ruins any group activities as you only see generic Airliners and Bonanzas even if you own the aircraft yhe other players are using during a group flight.
I wish this issue would be addressed rather than tree height and other trivial items.
C’mon Asobo, Xbox users are just as important as PC users

No whinges from me either. In fact I’m having a great time.

My specs are i9700K, 32GB*, RTX2060. That’s just short of the Ideal column and I can get Ultra with good performance with TOD/LOD turned down a bit.

*Originally 16GB but I wanted FSHUD.

No issues with 2020, which is why I haven’t switched to 2024.

With the addons available you can make it work and look fantastic, just about 4,000 flying hours on it now.

Model matching is no better on PC (out of the box) we just have access to third party apps to correct the issue like AIG.

MSFS2020 amd MSFS2024 works great for me (but on highest end hardware: 9800x3D, RTX 5090, 96GB RAM, PCIe 5.0 SSD@14GB/s, Gigabit fiber)

Simming since FS5.0, RL flying since 1999, PC gaming since 1991

it has never, ever worked well for me

Specifically what?

Hi @SpideryDwarf442,

Thanks for the feedback. We are always improving the experience and would love to know what specifically in MSFS2020 you have had issues with? Is it general stability and performance or specific to aircraft or activities you are engaging with?

Cheers.
