DME data missing?

I’m not sure where to look but I can’t get any DME data via SimConnect and the AirManager plugin even if the the tuned station is transmitting the range. The instrument can receive the station for directional info but not for range. I’m primarily concerned with the Aerosoft DHC-6 but I have the same issue with every smaller aircraft I’ve tried. The Aersosoft DHC-6 has several non-functional instruments so I’ve built them using AirManager and they work fine - except the DME.

In the LUA script, I use the “NAV HAS DME” flag and it’s always false. “NAV HAS NAV” works fine so I’m at a loss - my script (copied from a published instrument), the Aerosoft implementation or MSFS. Seems to me DME worked at one time, now it doesn’t…I may be wrong.

Any ideas?

John

Works fine here. Without more detail it’s difficult to provide you further help. What station?, what base sim aircraft?, what instrument? and if you modified the instrument, what are those mods? for starters.

Tnx for the reply!

I was more or less reflying a flightinsight tutorial landing at KBID (Block Island) with heavy wind. They have a similar video landing at KSHR. I left from KMVY (Matha’s Vineyard) for KBID. Both are VOR-DME stations. Both tuned in correctly as evidenced by the HSI (which doesn’t work on the Aerosoft Twin Otter for some reason) but works fine, except for range, in AirManager.

I started with the RWDesign Twin Otter HSI but as I was writing this I noticed in my LUA script, I had left off the :1 in “NAV HAS DME:1” and "NAV DME:1 in the variable subscription - I’m guessing that might be the problem. I think the XPlane scaling is the same so I didn’t do anything else to the code. I’ll have to test it tomorrow but let me know if anything else jumps out at you!

For the record, what are you flying where DME range works?

Thanks again, John

Moved to #third-party-addon-discussion:tools-utilities as topic author is attempting to read Nav Data externally.

I try to make my Air Manager panels accurate to the simulated aircraft. Aside from the G1000 equipped aircraft I have DME working for any steam gauge aircraft that has it installed. Sometimes that is with a radio stack DME unit such as the KN 62A or sometimes a DME indicator such as the KDI 574.

It’s tricky to give any feedback on your instrument as that one is an Xplane one and obviously its your mods for MSFS that are not working. I would need to see what you’ve done to be able to pass meaningful comment.

I think I might have found the problem - operator error, of course! I left off the :1 in the variable subscription! Stupid mistake! And I’ve been programming since the IBM650 days!
