I tried to set up an engine failure in flight to happen within 30 minutes of takeoff but nothing seemed to happen. At some point RPM seemed to drop then came back up, so it looks like it was supposed to happen at that point but for some reason didn’t. Has anybody managed to actually get the failures to work?
I use a freeware program called RandFailuresFS2020, it will give you random failures for a whole range of systems, including brake failure, flight control failure and a whole range of engine failures just to name a few. You can set a percentage of when failures may occur.
Just use an Xbox that fails all the time.

Joking aside it did used to work as I did try that a few times. Next time I fly I’ll try it…
Will be a shame if that feature is now not functional.
This looks cool I will give it a go!
Would be a shame if I had to use a 3rd party app to simulate failures that were already built into MSFS.
With MSFS failures you setup failures to occur during your flight, so you know it’s going to happen, with RandFailureFS2020 once you set it up you just start it before your flight, a failure may or may not happen, you just dont know. You could go for 10 flights and nothing, then next flight it happens, something simple, something major.
I went to MSFS Addons to take a look at this app…
What is so annoying about sites like this: Update! Flight Simulator 2020 Random Failures App - V.1.5.1
That page has FIVE Download links for other junk like Wave Browser and Driver Support listed as Continue, Download, Start Download…etc… typical of sites like this…
Had to go to the bottom of the page and hunt for the actual download link for the RandFailure app. Lots of people will just click on a “Download” link near the top because that is what the page was designed for…“trickery” Sneaky way to get you to download JUNK you didn’t want.
So Annoying…!
Or, just get it off Flightsim.to
Which actually has the updated version
Many thanks for that info… Very Much Appreciated !
I did not know that site was so malicious…
I sure do now. Thankfully, I did not click on any of the links so typical of sites like this.
Tip: you might want to change your browser, or add some adblocking, even my phone with the DuckDuckGo browser doesn’t show any rubbish on that site. Not sure what you can do if you’re on an Xbox though.
I actually did not download or open any malicious or pirated content, however, I was quick to notice that the page I was on carried many “Click Here” buttons that one would assume linked to what you were looking for but actually linked to things like “Wave Browser and Driver Program” downloads instead of what we were looking for. It was obvious that the site intended to divert attention to or trick the user into downloading something he didn’t intend to.
Is RandFailuresFS2020 compatible with Sim Update 11?
Working for me.
