MS Windows released a security update which again, is causing havoc to gamers and others.
I let Windows installed the kb5001330 security update this morning and I had to forcibly reboot my PC because it got stuck at 74%. On the second attempt, it finished the install. I check online and discovered that this update will lower your FPS considerable, to the point that Nvidia is now recommending everyone to uninstall it. Many users are facing re-boot loops, and most likely will have to re-install the OS. I did a virus scan with Bitdefender, which is what I use, and the PC froze, not because of a virus, but because of this update. My MSFS FPS also went down big time!. (haven’t tried VR yet)
I went ahead and uninstalled it. This is a security update so do what you want. Me, I am going to wait at least another week before I let Windows download any more updates.
Ps; Google kb5001330 and see it for yourself.
Edited: It was brought to my attention that this is old news, so disregard if your PC is working OK. According to a web search it is still big news today. I update my Windows manually EVERY DAY and I can not understand why it showed up on my update this morning…Weird…

This has been discussed already, and MS and Asobo are partners so you would think they would communicate so this wouldnt happend to at least their product.

This update was released this morning and you are sayingthat it had been discussed already? Did they know that this update is screwing up everyone’s PC, and I am not talking about FS, I am talking about PCs out of business having toi re-install the OS.

I have this update installed a week ago.
KB5001330 was released on April 12. It’s been talked about here for the last 10 days. There are multiple threads about it already.

Dang, I wonder why it downloaded for me this morning, even though I check for updates every day and it is now being posted on the big sites. OK Cool.
My update came on the 14th, havent noticed any issues.

I got it installed yesterday. It had no impact at all on my MSFS.
Flew every default plane in my inventory last night, checking for something else, and had not problems.

It had a small impact on me. I gained about 5 fps after I uninstalled it. Not huge, but enough to push me back over the 30 fps mark.
No impact for me too after this aualization.
Win updates are not available for everyone at the same time. They send them out in batches for some reason.
No, impact over a week ago, installed uninstalled still getting micro stutters, just keep playing around until I find my sweet spot

I have been running this update since the 16th of April with no problems.

You pretty much have to decide which is more important to you - smooth, stutter-free flying or “stunning”, drop-dead gorgeous scenery. Unless you have a really, really top of the line system (Some claim it hasn’t been built, yet!) it’s a compromise. I personally opt for and have achieved zero stutters, if you are interested…
Not blaming Asobo. They’re a subcontractor. I do blame MS for it. This sim has more bugs now than a body farm.

Absolutely agree, I am on high end graphic settings 2080TI 9 3950x. In other words I just have to keep tweaking. I am not disappointed at all…all I said I notice micro stutters pauses.
And this update made no difference
My PC does not have it installed.
I always install any update presented.
