Hi all, I have been wondering how much of the community uses dev-mode on a regular basis.(Personally I do most of the time. I find it useful to have the aircraft switcher and such.) If you do, what made you make the switch to it? If you don’t, what keeps you from using it?
I don’t use it for flights as I like my hours logged.
I’ll use it if I am messing about on the ground in a new plane learning about it.
Normally do not use dev mode, unless I want to see fps graphs, or use other dev mode features. I like having a functioning logbook.
I even did not question myself why I would use it tbh !
Not having my hours logged(since beginning to use dev-mode) does really annoy me. For me at least though, the positives out-weigh the negatives.
I only use Dev mode when wanting to see the FPS view for mainthread vs GPU frametime information and for when modding aircraft. Otherwise, Dev mode is off so my logbook gets updated.
I turned it on a couple times to see how intuitive the replay function is. I lost patience and haven’t turned dev mode back on since.
I’m using dev mode to bridge the missing sim features that were taken out:
- Teleport to another airport
- Reload/change the aircraft
– Keven
I only switch it on, to test FPS. And once I’m done I turn it off and I keep it off until the next time I need to test my FPS. That’s it. I don’t really need to switch aircraft because I only have the mandatory Cessna and TBM installed that I never use, and only have default A320 for air traffic purposes, Airbus A32NX, and A330-900neo that I fly regularly, and the occassional Concorde and F-35. I usually commit to flying an aircraft when I load the flight. So I never really need to switch.
To me, Dev mode doesn’t give me any benefit other than testing out FPS bottleneck, but that’s it.
I do not use DEV-Mod. I measure FPS, CPU-GPU load etc. with MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner Statistics Server.
Replay has been difficult to get working for me too. It gets quite confusing!
Meh…
they get wiped out randomly on the updates anyway…
I only use dev mode when I’m doing actual dev work for my Air Manager instruments and need to dig into the plane’s systems to see how they work.
Otherwise, I use my Steam fps counter and leave dev mode off. I like having my flight hours logged.
Yeah, this. EZ on, EZ off.
Never had any of this. All flight hours are intact.
Same. Only issues I’ve had was the bug shortly after launch where flight hours weren’t always getting logged. Otherwise, no issues.
Then again, I’ve got the Steam version. It doesn’t have a lot of the issues that the MS Store version has with stuff like that.
Before making my switch to dev-mode, I suffered from the log bug occasionally. It wasn’t too much of a bother though.
I’ve lost completed bush trips but my hours have stayed correct. Weird, but that’s how FS 2020 rolls.
I use it a lot, really for testing things out so as not to fill my logbook with unwanted entries.
Dev Mode 100% of the time.
If I want a Log book, I keep it as a separate application, that MS cannot delete on the cloud,.
BTW: Never have had any issues, when running in DEV Mode…
