Does a 5 to 10 mbps internet connection have a chance for MSFS 2024?

flight on the 172 from london city 27 to heathrow 27R, direct, at 1000ft
all caches emptied and set to 128gb

2020
1st flight: 2.98gb downloaded
2nd flight: 0.14gb downloaded

2024
1st flight: 3.85 gb downloaded
2nd flight: 0.54 gb downloaded

it appears 2024 streams a little more data accross the board, but they are pretty close
my guess is despite if your internet is slow or not, you wont notice that much difference between 2020 and 24

TOLOWTERRAIN723, thanks.

This also corresponds with the feeling I have and the test I did in data streaming in MSFS 2020 near LOWI. Also there I saw a bandwidth usage somewhat similar to what I saw in the YouTube clips near LOWI in MSFS 2024, but a bit less in MSFS 2020.

The interesting fact is, that you hear so much about that MSFS 2024 is streamed, and all kinds of opinions on it. But what that actually means for bandwidth usage of MSFS 2020 compared to MSFS 2024 stays unclear. I think we cleared it up a bit with this.

With this information I know what to do for MSFS 2024: I am just going to wait on the PMDG 737 to come to MSFS 2024, and see what that means. Because I use that plane often. I bought that for around 70 EUR in 2023, and I like it. And there is no timeline or price for MSFS 2024 integration for that plane now. So I will wait for that, and keep on using MSFS 2020 until that information comes.

And if the PMDG 737 becomes integrated in MSFS 2024 for a reasonable cost, then I think I am just going to try MSFS 2024. And still there are so many variables, but it is worth a try then I feel. Because perhaps MSFS 2024 would start up quicker, and that would be nice, sometimes I am waiting for 15 minutes or so now in MSFS 2020 to start it up.

Thanks for the help. Greetings from the Netherlands, Boudewijn
