Does DLSS overide DSR (Nvidia)

If I have DSR enabled via Nvidia Control Panel globally (can’t be set per profile), will this impact negatively if I’m using DLSS in MSFS settings? Or does the DLSS simply overide DSR setting in Nvidia Control Panel?

You can use both together, I have been tinkering with them both a bit, but I’ve found that when using DLSS it’s better to just set a custom resolution in nvcp. This way seems, for me at least, to give better frame rates with less lag and no tearing with vsync off in the sim.

What monitor/TV are you using? What is your native resolution?

but’s a bit contra, or ? … the one do up-scaling for better image-qualitiy, the other one do a down-scale for better performance.

I don’t really think they cancel each other out as such, DLSS will reduce resolution to give better performance yes, but if I just use DLSS at 1080p which my TV native resolution is I still get lots of aliasing edges of objects. But if I also upscale using DSR then the overall image is cleaner with better antialiasing.

Of course this is also the case with a custom resolution used instead of DSR.

I play in VR with Oculus Quest 2. Like you, I’m tinkering to get best performance / quality ratio. Was happy enough with DLSS only, but I’m trying DSR with XP12 and it seems DSR can only be enabled globally in NCP,

DLSS was never made for Full-HD.. it was for higher resolutions and because gpu.manufactors know that they can not deliver hardware which can handle 4K ( and VR ) and more in same (useless) high fps values the consumers ask for.

If we want better image quality, we have to wait fir DLAA in MSFS.. in games where I seen that, it realy give a huge qualitiy beneffit ( of cost of performance ).

But yeah.. if you get better results with both enabled, why not use

@Krazsus you enable DSR in NCP, but you not forced to choose the DSR resolution within the game. So you still have the choice

Yes it can only be enabled at the global level. Everyone has different needs of image quality and performance. You are right to experiment, it won’t hurt anything. I don’t use VR so I couldn’t comment on the benefits with a HMD I’m afraid.

Hope you get the results you are looking for
