Does Microsoft even care about its flightsim userbase?

Would you know whether in SU3 beta users are reporting improved results for XBox? How would the userconfig file or anaconda make a difference for xbox vs pc? IE what is it one experiences differently? I can only slightly interpret a general feel for improvement because I know very little about computers and coding. I am trying to raise hope for XBox users - as a PC user I feel lucky to have started my MSFS 24 experience with a PC and feel quite sad for those who were promised by MS that they would be able to use their console for this sim - and thus far not had it very good.

I dont have a Xbox console anymore so I have no idea.

In short, it controls the low and higher settings for about everything shown on screen.

You can check your usercfg.opt file to see what it is used for, most setting names speak for themself or ask AI to explain in detail what a setting does. And same for the shaders.

Honestly, it’s really hard to determine what others’ opinions mean. Some might say they have a good experience but you don’t know what they fly, where, how, etc. Some say it’s worse than before, others claim it’s much better. You just never know. The only way is to judge personally when it’s released.

Interesting debate. I would say I am split on this topic. One example: In the aircraft manufacturer company where I work, they decided not to go to one show they always attended. It was a mix of Marketing strategy + other factors. And we are talking about a real aircraft and how much customers spend etc.

Now for MSFS, I agree that a Marketing team being there is not related to development but usually it is Jorg and Asobo leaders who are at these shows usually ? (Just like my company, the CEO and other executives used to attend that one we stopped going to)…

So it could be Marketing strategy or related to the specific status of the sim or any other factor.

And yes, I heard about MS staff reduction in the XBox division and other teams I suppose if I am not mistaken. (I heard this was meant to focus on AI…)

It could be related or not… MS / XBOx might or might not have decided that the team attends… And hopefully the MSFS team at MS and the sim itself won’t be affected by that in the future.

And yes, it is MS that drives the whole sim product and who decides about its business and Marketing strategy for sure…

Very true, and people’s definition of “a good experience” also varies widely. Some people say 30fps, or even less, is enough for VFR flying in VR. Or that a fluctuating frame rate is acceptable in VR. I would rather do something else than “enjoy” any of those scenarios

from a technical perspective, I like to see the emulation attempt to model the real world (physics) as close as possible.

I can’t remember which update it was for 2020 which made the ground handling deplorable. You might have a 5kt cross wind and a c172 becomes uncontrollable on the ground.

Other effect includes the default load state of the 172 (with the cockpit spot lamps fully illuminated). The POH I’ve consulted typically will have these lamps off (especially during night ops). The problem is the 172 model is ‘protected’ preventing you from changing a simple state.

Also noticed that the Working Title CJ4 feels more polished in 2020 than 2024. Most notably, in 2020, the audio announcement work (eg the “passenger briefing”). You hit the same button in 2024 and it’s crickets.
