Does moving from MS Store to Steam version reset your logbook and cloud data?

I played the MS Store version on Game Pass when it first came out last year, for about 3 months I put over 100 hours flying and dozens of log book entries, before cancelling my Game Pass subscription in November.
Today on a brand new PC I purchased the game on Steam, installed it and logged in using the same Microsoft account I used last year on the MS Store version, but I didn’t see any of my log book entries or the progress I made. Even my list of friends reset back to 0.
Isn’t this data saved on the cloud and shared between both versions of the game?

Ok just in case someone else is looking for an answer to this, I found 2 users on Reddit who reported the same issue, moving from Game Pass to Steam didn’t carry over their progress, so at least I know I am not alone and it seams both version have separate cloud data.

I think this happened after all the servers were down. I don’t have the game on steam at all, only have it from the ms store. When I was able to get back online, my flight hours were down to 10, and logbook entries only went back one week.

Did you use the same MS gamer tag ?

The logbook attaches to the MS gamer tag and if that changes neither the log book or any of your purchases are transferrable.

This might be the real reason, not which shopfront it was bought on. Can you even buy a second copy of MSFS, and link both to the same Gamertag?

How does the Steam version work in that respect? I imagine it like other a Steam titles with 3rd party DRM. You buy, and download on Steam, then when the game launches you log in to your Ubisoft account, or whichever.

Not sure.

I do know there have been a lot of complaints from people that had tried out the game pass version and bought all sorts of aircraft and scenery and even the Deluxe or Premium upgrade while on gamepass and then for some unknown reason bought the full version with a new MS login and new gamer tag and lost all their addons and upgrades they purchased.

Apparently MS support refuses to transfer anything over if you do that, once you buy something in the marketplace it permanently attaches to the gamer tag you were using when you purchased it.

In a way that is fair enough if you had two Steam accounts I doubt Steam would let you transfer games or DLC between them either.

Yes I logged in with the same Microsoft account and Xbox gamer tag, but I think it makes sense for both versions of the game to have separate cloud data, at least to track the achievements on each platform.

Yeah same here, started with store and now on Steam. No progress / stats were moved to my steam version.

Did you buy anything at the market store? And if so, did that transfer to the steam version?

I am going to do the same, switch to Steam because I need to create a profile for Nvidia and it wont let me.

I didn’t buy anything from the market store within the game, so no idea how that works if someone switches from the MS Store to the Steam edition.

Everything resets and nothing carries over, you do not carry over purchases or progress

No, I don’t think it permanently attaches to anything.

I bought the game on Steam, I had to create an Xbox live account for DRM reasons.

There is absolutetely ZERO there.
No record of me owning the game (despite having to login using their service daily)
No record of any of the transactions made using their microsoft credits, through their in game marketplace.
No record of game progress, achievements, hours logged etc.

It is literally a blank page.

And the worrying thing is that it appears that Steam does not log items purchased through the marketplace either. It logs that I had to buy and then spend microsoft credits (through Steam) but it does not list the items I have purchased.

So I wouldnt have much confidence transferring anything related to this game from one thing to another. Hell, I am actually concerned that when I reinstall windows in a couple of weeks I will lose everything because I can’t find any way of tracking much of it.
