Does MSFS 2020 support Surround Sound, now? I am thinking about getting an Surround Sound Speaker System

Hi there, Does MSFS 2020 support Surround Sound? I’m thinking about getting a new Surround Sound System.. Any information is greatly appreciated. TIA

Yup. Using it on my 5.1 system since MSFS was launched on 2020

My Pioneer receiver reports PCM 2.0. However it will simulate 5.1.2 Dolby Surround and it does it very nicely. Are you sure you are getting true DD 5.1?

I think so.. or maybe its just simulated? ATC voices only comes out at the center speaker, while enviroment sounds are coming out of the 4 sides. As long as it works im fine, tired of tinkering with this sim

Simulated surround sound should have dialog coming from the center speaker as you have described. With true DD 5.1 one will hear different sounds coming from each of the rear speakers.

I do have spatial sound turned on in the sim which helps. Regardless MSFS will only output two channels. It does sound great though being 5.1 simulated.

Thanks for the explanation. I agree, it still works nice even if it is only simulated surround

I get ATC via headset, engine end environmental sounds via stereo speakers.

The true punch is delivered by a big subwoofer and a butt kicker. That combo makes my planes feel alive!
