Does MSFS2024 actually work for anyone?

Is there anybody out there that actually managed to load the sim properly, seeing the correct content, and able to make a flight?

Yes. I’ve seen some streams.

Yes, installed fresh on Xbox X. Did the initial set up screens, then quit, rebooted, and relaunched - was prompted to download “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Addon Support” (presumably for WASM), and then was able to load in. Loaded in to plane at a few gates, but have to work so no actual flight yet. But seems to be working.

It did for me. And then i noticed that i have 6 aircraft only. Decided to restart. I have been waiting for 2 hours for it to load now. story ends here.

After downloading and installing the above mentioned Add on Support, you should be able to start seeing your stuff in My Library.

Same here, though I had maybe a dozen planes. Tried to restart the, sim and got stuck at 97%. Followed the advice posted elsewhere from the Community Managers to reboot my PC. Did that, stuck at 97% again.

Nope, software gets to 100% unpacking and simply says error. Get error code 0x87e00017 in XBOX app. Hopefully just server issues.

Prioritising Xbox?

Judging by my experience, it seems those of us on Xbox were an afterthought. Worst menu system/UI that I have ever experienced in a game. MSFS2020 is light years ahead.

Same boat, wonderful… isn’t it…

Trying to fly with Xbox X: nothing happens. If I try free fly after starting I see only the map and nothing happens, just the spinning circle on the bottom. They should code for a stable sim before to use resources on VIP man and things like that

Same. After waiting for everything to load, I went through the initial setup and found that there were ony a few planes. I bought Deluxe edition but it showed it wasn’t installed and I couldn’t figure out how to install it. Went away for about thirty minutes and came back to find it had apparently crashed.

I started the process at 8:05. It eventually came up with the menu screen at around 9:30. I took a free flight from one local airport to another. The selection of aircraft was very limited. The scenery and graphics were worse than my MSFS 2020 setup, and of course I had to try and re-setup my controller from scratch which did not work very well either.

The Market Place is not working, but I purchased the Aviator Edition so there are of course 125 aircraft to choose from in my “Library”. I can see them all but have spent an hour exploring every option and have not been able to enable even a C152 or C172. I assume that there is some trick that is not very intuitive. At this point I am not impressed at all.

Xbox Series X. I could not load into the flight yet, getting stuck with the loading circle. Also several CTD from the menu. Realism settings not accessible …

I am shocked that there have previews and glowing reviews up for months and this morning even the basics are not working very well. I feel like I just wasted $200 on the Aviator Edition. I assume this will eventually get worked out, but how long will it take?

How could there have been glowing reviews up when it was only released 2 hours ago? No one had a pre-release copy to review it. This forum is so melodramatic.

I was able to get in once, and only had about 15 planes. I did a quick flight around Toronto and it looked great, but then I quit the game thinking that I can come back later since now it’s installed… nope, second load goes right back to 0%.

Really hilarious that they can build a digital twin of the world, but cannot somehow install a game. I’ve never, ever, seen such major installation and updating issues with a game… this is very much a solved problem in 2024!

I’m returning the Steel Book, when it arrives. I don’t want a reminder of this fiasco.

I am in, and it looks great!!! Lots of planes available. Now setting up.
