I have searched in quiet a few places online and can’t find anyone discussing this. Obviously VR works while flying inside of the cockpit but what about when you switch to spot view? Does it go to somewhat of a pancake mode on the VR headset or do you feel like your floating in the air behind the plane? Very curious.
Works but floating in the air behind and can look around.
Yeah it works. I just landed the H135 halfway up Mont Blanc and got out and went for a little stroll in a lovely high alpine meadow. Obviously you need to have enough space in whatever room you play the sim in and it works better if you’ve got a Quest using it wirelessly. You can still do it tethered but you’re obviously restricted by the length of your headset cable.
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again - when its working well VR in this sim blows my mind.
I can’t thank you enough for responding and so quickly. I’ve been looking everywhere and nobody talks about flying using spot view. I prefer to fly like that with brief visits in the cockpit along the way. You can take in so much more scenery when outside up in the sky. FS2020 in VR must be mind blowing on a big PC. I’ve been holding off on buying the headset if it only worked in the cockpit. I currently have the PS4 one and can only imagine the Quest 2 which is what I’m considering. I’m gonna tether it. Built a huge PC 2 months ago so I have plenty of power. It must feel like your gonna fall out of the sky? Can only imagine flying over a mountain as you crest the peak and then the ground dips several hundred feet. Without VR that makes me squeamish. I’ve been playing this game since the first release 30 yrs ago.
Sure does! Just don’t walk into a wall or something in your room (like I did!)
Ok, got it…
- Duct tape pillow around head - check
- Rubberized room - check
I like to stand up of the chair and sit down on the left wing and watching in awe
Sticking your head through the windows and peering down at the passing ground is a surreal experience.
Sounds cool but it’s a good thing you don’t live in my house. With your headset on, I would sneak up and whack you in the head with a pillow and yell “seagull” and run away…haha
I landed next to some grizzly bears and got out and petted them. Not recommended to do in real life!
Still better than hitting a pregnant T-Rex
Too funny! Where’s the zombie mod for this game?!! Land, pick up survivors, take off just in time and try to make to another area low on fuel! Now that would make a cool game
Yeah I’ve about broken my hand a dozen times fighting dragons in Skyrim.
