Draco X Fuel Bug

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Fuel selector set to both, but only appears to take fuel from the right tank.

Tried a couple of missions and got the same issue. Actually crashed first time round because the engine stopped, even though the left fuel gauge was showing plenty of fuel.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
Patey Aviation Draco X

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes - stock build

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every time.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Take mission with Draco X
  2. Set fuel selector to both

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

Looks like related to that report that affect all aircraft used in career-mode mission :

What I am reporting is nothing to do with editing the amount of fuel. It is to do with the fact that when the fuel selector is set to “both”, then surely fuel should be consumed from both tanks not just the right hand one?

Just tested. If I manually set the fuel selector to “left” then it does use fuel from the left hand tank.

We are aware of this issue, thank you, working on a fix for the next update.

Have I told you yet today, that you rock?! :metal:

Many thanks.

I noticed the same thing, it will actually kill the flight if you aren’t paying attention. it doesn’t even switch when it goes to 0 on one side.

This still has not been fixed.
When will this get fixed please?

SU-1 Still not fixed despite this below.

Got Friends fixed Draco X:

Changelist v0.0.7

Fully localized.

Changelist v0.0.8:

Temporarily Removed Heat Blur Effects while in VR.
Updated Various LOC Strings that were incorrect/missing from Polish and Japanese Data.
fixed Left Fuel Pump LOC String creating issues with Checklist Items.
Removed Ambient Cockpit Lighting Causing Issues with MSFS 2024.
Added Parking Brake Condition to Taxi Flight plan for Career Stability.
Modified First Aid Kit Artwork.
Increased Display Brightness for Better Manual Brightness Control via G3X Touch.
fixed Fuel Flow Issue that was blocking BOTH from working correctly on Fuel Selector.
Replaced Various Multiplayer Variables to Alleviate G3X and Propeller Flickering.”

Oh good, I’m not alone in this. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong or an addon was causing the bug. I was excited to see the bug get fixed as it was annoying swapping tanks, but now I’m disappointed it’s still not fixed.

Hey everyone,

We wanted to provide some insight into the fuel system bug on the DracoX when utilizing the Both Position of the Fuel Selector and what’s being done to fix it. First off, we apologize for the inconvenience. Our latest update (v0.0.8) was submitted before the SU1 Beta, but due to the slower ingestion process for 1st Party Aircraft, the fuel system was once again affected by SU1’s fuel changes:

AIRCRAFT CORE SYSTEMS

FUEL SYSTEM CHANGES IN SU1

  • Fixed an issue where the fuel_type parameter was ignored in the [Fuel] section if the [Fuel_System] section was defined with version 6 or later.
  • Fixed an issue causing some aircraft to start with zero fuel.

These core fixes inadvertently impacted DracoX, even though we had already patched the issue in v0.0.8. With the fuel system now more stable, we can confidently say that v0.0.9 will resolve this for good.

HOW THE DRACOX FUEL SYSTEM WORKS

We’ve noticed some confusion around DracoX’s fuel flow, so here’s a quick rundown:

  • DracoX has four tanks – two Wing Tanks and two Leg Tanks.
  • The Wing Tanks do NOT feed directly into the engine. Instead, they gravity-feed fuel into the Leg Tanks.
  • The Leg Tanks supply fuel to the engine.
  • If you see fuel draining from the Wing Tanks while the engine is running, that’s just them refilling the Leg Tanks via gravitational flow.
  • This design ensures that the Leg Tanks always burn last, lowering CG for competitions / hard braking, thus alleviating nose overs allowing for shorter landing distances, allowing empty wing tanks for competition weight as well as optimizing fuel balance and extending usage for longer flights.

A POSITIVE SIDE EFFECT – ADVANCED FUEL PHYSICS IN MSFS 2024

While this bug has been frustrating, it actually revealed something really cool.

  • In MSFS 2020, this issue never appeared during testing.
  • However, in MSFS 2024, we noticed backflow pressure in the Wing Tanks, which led to incorrect fuel draining.
  • This proved that Asobo has implemented more advanced fuel physics and pressure mechanics, accurately simulating real-world backflow pressure imbalances.

This discovery allowed us to fine-tune the gravity-feed system down to a decimal factor, making it behave closer to real-world physics than ever before.

We know this has been a hassle, and we appreciate your patience. But in the bigger picture, this is actually a huge step forward for realism in MSFS 2024.

Thanks again for your support—v0.0.9 is on its way!

Cheers,
Got Friends

Thanks a bunch for the added info/insight into the fuel system and its bug(s). In fact, while I never went out searching for the info, I did wonder about the “leg” tanks, and how fuel was fed from them. Now, I’m fairly certain the answer to this is “soon” or “no ETA yet”, but any idea when the next update w/ the fuel bug fix will be in place?

I know Microsoft’s internal testing team is currently going through the process of clearing bugs. I don’t have any timelines to give you, but the last release happened with SU1. Assumptions are that the next release will happen with SU2. Wish I could be of more service, but I also am not privy to the ingestion timelines of 1st Party Aircraft.

Cheers
