Not an AMD user but isn’t Adrenalin just GPU related software, like the Nvidia app?
That would mean it’s only relevant to your system due to the onboard graphics of the CPU, but if you’re not using that I don’t see why you’d need that installed.
Above could all be completely wrong, in which case I’m sure someone will correct me.
That’s what I think too but I’m new to the pc world to be fair I’ve never downloaded one before and it works fine so I’ll leave it until a few more comment
not the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition. The Adrenalin software is meant for AMD graphics cards, not CPUs.
Of course, there are AMD CPUs that come with integrated graphics - like Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
But let’s be honest… nobody in their right mind is using those iGPUs for serious gaming.
So you don’t need the Adrenalin software. Just grab the chipset driver for your AMD CPU and the NVIDIA driver for your graphics card. That’s it.
AMD Adrenalin Edition also includes AMD Install Manager, that allows to install and update MoBo chipset drivers as well. I have installed them for a X870E-E using it.
Not for gaming but to run my other two monitors, leaving the dedicated GPU to run only the main display, so I have both AMD and nVidia GPU drivers installed on my system with a 9800X3D and 4090.
In my opinion, it’s better to manually check for chipset driver updates directly from the motherboard manufacturer website for example MSI or from AMD official download site. That’s what I personally do.
This way, I avoid using Adrenalin, which means it doesn’t eat up system resources, doesn’t conflict with other apps, games and doesn’t run anything unnecessary in the background - which is key for a gaming PC setup.
Of course, there are exceptions - like the one mentioned above by @ResetXPDR
In some cases, Adrenalin might be useful or even necessary, depending on the hardware and specific setup. But for most users with a NVIDIA GPU, it’s just an unnecessary application.
My next task will be adding a new ssd onto the board and moving my Fenix aircraft and one airport to the new ssd so I can start adding free add ons and use addon linker to save using up all the storage on my current 2tb drive
