I have watched many videos on Drone use. They say that the drone can be used on autopilot I use an X box controller and on the ground, all adjustments work perfectly. I take off, activate the drone, and none of the adjustments work when I set the AP on. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? The drone follows the aircraft, but always in the same position that I had set up on the ground.
I fly with a VKB Gladiator Joystick to control the aircraft and use a xbox controller for the drone only. Drone movement works fine with AP on in my case, or was working fine till the xbox live server issue yesterday evening. Had to remap the xbox controller today.
One analog stick is mapped to translate drone forward/backward/left/right, the other one to pitch up/down and rotate left/right. Moving drone up/down is mapped to LT and RT buttons. Roll is mapped to LB and RB. Zoom in/out is mapped to the cursor cross up/down. One of the 3 middle buttons to toggle drone view on/off.
Haven’t set any other drone functions to the controller currently. Not sure if controlling the aircraft and the drone with an xbox controller will work without any flaws since you will have to do a lot of double-mapping.
Hope this helps and works for you as well.
I set my airplane on a southern track parallel to the Florida peninsula once… then stepped out with the drone camera and dropped myself to “beach” level while the plane was flying AP. Worked great. I had total control of the drone, but then again, I have a separate Yoke and use a rather unusual device to control my drone. Don’t know if that makes a difference.
I just didn’t care for the Xbox Controller.
Just my $.02.

OK I found the issue. I had the C key assigned to something else, and when I hit the C key, it stops the X box controller from controlling the Drone. Hit C again, and you have control again. I just mapped the C assignment to another key, and the default setup for the X box controls everything on the drone perfectly.
