Duckworks DC-3 VS AP not working

I can’t get the vertical speed autopilot to work. The lateral AP (nav mode) is working fine and the plane is following my GPS course.

However when trying to press “UP” and “DOWN” to change the vertical speed, nothing happens

The KAP 140 autopilot is actually working as designed. There are real world manuals available for it. Unfortunately, we can’t ask that something be changed, because we don’t think it is operating correctly in our minds. If it were not matching the manual, I would complain. I admit that I don’t really like the KAP 140, but it is what it is. And such is MSFS in general, there is so much to learn.

During my flight today I was able to set an initial VS, in this case 500 ft/min, but subsequently was then unable to change it although the autopilot responded to altitude changes. Also noticed the glideslope indication didn’t work, not sure it ever did though?

Later after watching a short tutorial ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLNLZqaT9fI ). CapnCarl4445 is absolutely right, VS mode works fine but you have to use the thing properly!

i use that AP in a dozen other MSFS planes just fine. are you saying the DC-3 has its own version that is different than the rest?

If you are in Alt Hold mode and wish to change altitude, do you:

  1. Dial in your new altitude
  2. Press ALT
  3. Observe display change to VS value
  4. Press UP/DN as required to set VS

Does that not work?

Well the video I’ve referred to is recorded in a real airplane, so it seems the DC-3 has perhaps the most true to life version.

that’s pretty amazing!
