There are alot of recent posts about graphics performance improvements with DX12 & DLSS. I’m confused if people are using the SU10 beta or SU09. I’d rather wait for the official SU10 in August, but I’d like to try DX12 & DLSS to see if I get any benefit. Right now I’m happy with my performance on a 5160x1440 monitor, but with each software update I’ve had to reduce my graphics settings and LOD just to keep the same smoothness. I’d like to eventually try to go back to all ULTRA settings like when I first installed the sim 2 years ago. My specs:
i9-10900K stock speeds, RTX3090, Samsung G9 monitor.
SU9 was the first time I actually had to lower my settings. In previous versions, for a while I was flying 500/500. It was a little stuttery on the ground, but once in the air the view was amazing.
Sadly, as further SU’s were released I had to roll back on that. And now I have to fly 300/200 to get the same performance as I was getting in SU8 using 400/200. And there was no mention in the release notes for the SU10 Beta that the poor ground level performance had been looked in to. I hope they don’t consider it fixed because DX12 or DLSS is masking this with improved performance.
You had a 3090 two years ago before MSFS was released?
Since Aug 2020, Asobo and 3rd party developers have added a LOT of scenery and other objects plus a lot of new peripherals and 3rd party apps. Add in all the Windows and GPU driver updates… The MSFS environment has not been static, quite the opposite. Because so many things have been and continue to change, using ULTRA settings from two years ago expecting the same performance is unrealistic.
Asobo has never said that MSFS is backwards compatible with previous updates especially regarding performance or graphics quality. Have you reviewed any of the MSFS support documentation or FAQs lately? Lots of good info there…
Thanks. Yes, purchased my 3090 in August & installed MSFS in Sept. of 2020. I completely understand that each SU is unique and comprises the addition of new features. My community folder has also grown, as it has for most users.
All I really want to know is do I have to be on SU10 beta to try out DX12 with DLSS? If so, I would rather just wait for the official release in late August.
Yes.
The Anti-Aliasing option is added on the Graphics Options screen
where you can select DLSS options.
