DX12 or DX11? TAA or DLSS? TLOD100 or TLOD200? What is the best setting at the moment?

Everything is in the title.

i9-11900K and RTX 3080 and I am using DX11 and TAA, the rest is giving me equal
frames but much less quality.

Switched Back to DX11 and TAA, TLOD 125 feels better after a week of testing DX12 DLSS Quality, I’m going to wait until DX12 comes out of Beta and DLSS gets some more Improvements before switching Back.

Running TLOD 150, 200 if I’m flying GA. DX12 DLSS Quality with just an RTX 2060super on WQHD.
I’m rarely going over my VRAM because I turn off some settings like Super Sampling. Rest of settings Ultra.
The sim is more fluid under DX12 at least on my setup.

5950X / 3090

DX-12, TAA.

Buttery smooth, minimal FPS loss with pop outs, better GPU and CPU utilization.

The best setting is what works for you and your system, not what’s better for some other system/person. Simply try out various settings for yourself. Its the best way.

Haven’t tested everything but I’ve found a good spot with DX11, TAA, TLOD 275. RTX 3080 and i7-9700k @ 4.9Ghz and 2K resolution. I notice DX11 gives more choppiness to my frames but with DX12 I have hit the 10GB VRAM limit a lot…

TAA - DX11 - TLOD 200

Ryzen 7 5800x3d / RTX 3080

gives me the best performance. Overall around 60fps +

DLSS makes things blurry and DX12 beta destroys my 3080 memory usage.

1440p DX11 (dlss) and for me T-LOD 300 works great but only if I reduce traffic to 25% etc. In 4k (dlss) I am just about able to remain gpu limited @ 30+ fps with T-LOD at 400

R73800X, rtx3060

with a 3060 TLOD @ 400 seems excessive no?

No. T-LOD has more to do with the cpu load. Having a rtx3060 rather than a higher gpu means I can stay gpu limited more easily. I mostly fly gliders, I guess in a tubeliner I would get even less fps.

With PBO enabled my R7 3800x boosts to 4.6GHz which makes it an ideal match.

Hi I tried Dx12 with DlSS not to Successful so I went back to the DX11 with TAA works ok I try again once fixed so it works for all.

weird.. I have a 5800x3D and if i go to TLOD 400 performance drops a lot.

4.5ghz boost and 96mb cache

Running on 2k @144hz mostly 60fps +

I haven’t checked but doesn’t the x3D only run at 3.9GHz and cannot be OC’d

I just saw your last post … so clock speeds are actually similar. In 1440p dlss I also get about 60fps with all ultra graphics. (edit: but not over big PG cities)

5800x3D boost to 4.5ghz , stock clock is 3.4ghz
but for MSFS what matters is the huge L3 cache

You can see here a comparsion with CPUs that achieve 5.0ghz+

thats really good for a 3060 then

Yup, it’s a very underated gpu that likes to be run hard. I also have a mesh case which helps keep everything cool

Are you looking for the BEST FPS (maximum)? Or BEST graphics quality (maximum for highest quality photos or videos)?

best balance from graphics/performance for me is DX11 TAA TLOD 150
3070 ti
9900kf
32gb
anything above TLOD 150 and I get bad stuttering
