Like a few people here here I’m really interested in the sense of real world immersion the sim brings. It seems to be a frequent observation that people want more life brought to the world of flight sim and I totally agree with that. Quite often I’ll make little scenery add ons to some of my favourite airports to add passengers and more ground crew just to bring the place to life a bit more. They’re also really fun and easy to make. I recommend you give it a go if you think its something that appeals to you. There’s lots of easy to follow youtube tutorials if you’ve never done it before.
Anyway last night I was mucking about and made a few little scenes just to show off the incredible world Asobo have created with the sim and thought I’d share them. I’ll update this thread as I make new ones.
Feel free to add your own shots to this thread. You don’t have to use any mods. Just use the showcase camera to do some virtual photography in the world of flight sim. They can be directly aviation related or not its up to you. Just a celebration of Earth 2.0 as depicted in the world of FS2020.
To start with here’s some storm chasers in the mid West America.
What happens if you fly into that super cell with an Icon A5 or a Cessna 152? Either the airplane is torn apart, or no damage occurs at all hence weather doesn’t play that much of a role in MSFS.

Yeah it’ll be interesting to see what weather improvements are brought in with SU7. They said live weather is getting some changes. I soppose its still early days for the weather system in the sim. It’ll be interesting to see where it all goes.
Yes, I’ve got lots of ideas and requests for specific scenarios to develop them further but kinda restricted by what the weather preset system can actually do right now.
But Sim Update 7 (this month) is hopefully going to have a big update to the weather system.

Its pretty noticeable that the weather currently in the sim is just one big visual effect. Its not a programmed system (I guess that would take vast amounts of processing power) so for example that supercell storm over the midwest just sits there. It doesn’t change or develop over time through a fully coded set of meteorological physics systems.
I think thats what Asobo won’t allow third parties into develop for and tinker with. Which is maybe a bit of a shame but presumably they will develop themselves.
