I just got one of these controllers - I think they’re newly available - and I’m working on figuring out how to get it set up in MSFS 2024. The product page on the company site, at ECHO AVIATION CONTROLLER – Honeycomb Aeronautical Europe , has a section at the bottom called “Downloads for Echo Aviation Controller”, with six files, including a “General Controls” file and a “Airplanes Controls - Single Engine” file.
However, when I download these two files they a) seem to be malformed - they start with the incomplete tag “lay=“0.000000” Flag=“2” SimAttachmentIdx=“0”/>”, for example, and b) each define the same set of “Action” tags.
But I’m new to this, so perhaps I’m misunderstanding something obvious to folks that know more. Or maybe the files the company uploaded are broken somehow.
If the files are in fact broken, I guess I’ll see about mapping the different elements of the controller manually.
I think - but I’m not sure, as I haven’t done this before - that in the controls section of settings, you can click/select the controller, and then there’s a section for ‘general’ and a section for ‘airplane’, each of which has its own gear icon on the right, and there’s an ‘import’ menu item behind each gear icon.
I reported the above issue to Honeycomb, after trying on multiple devices and seeing the malformed files on every one. Hopefully they’ll fix it soon.
I also received my controller today. I would also be interested to know how to install the downloaded XML files. I think the idea of bringing such a controller onto the market is great, but more detailed instructions for getting started would be desirable.
Hey, so I have a couple of these controllers bought for myself and a friend, just getting them set up.
Has anyone run into the issue of if you make any decent trim wheel adjustments, the rest of the buttons “freeze” for a bit, then everything you’ve pushed executes all at once? For some reason the control axis’ still seem fine while “frozen”, it just affects the buttons, POV hat etc.
Happens both wireless and wired, on two different controllers, cables and USB sticks.
Was hoping it was just the one, so boxed it up and tried again with the second one I have with all it’s own accessories. Same result. It’s like the trim wheel just overloads the controller and everything else has to wait for it to come back.
Any one else seen this yet? I can’t think it’s just me being I’m using two different controllers. I am using the latest Honeycomb provided files. USB fob is updated to latest.
Thanks for any input!
