EFB and Empty CG Adjustability Why?

Once again, I am confused by the ability for us to move the Empty CG of an aircraft.

Am I completely missing something here?

The CG of an empty aircraft is a fixed value. It can’t be moved unless you alter the physical configuration of the aircraft either by adding or removing equipment that is bolted into the aircraft.

Why is this something that is adjustable?

This same functionality was in 2020 and I’m not understanding why it exists again in 2024.

You can alter the CG of a loaded aircraft, but only by how you load passengers and cargo into it and, to an extent, which fuel tanks you fill and by how much.

So, again, am I completely misunderstanding something here?

Why is there a slider here to change something that can’t be easily changed in real life?

Just chiming in to bump the thread and say that I was also confused seeing this in 2020 and 2024.

I’ve wondered this too, but it’s nice to have so I can trim my weight balance when fully loaded. I know it’s not really realistic, but it can make the difference between being able to take off or not.

I was wondering myself about this very thing this morning.
