I change the map to satellit view but next time when I start the game is back the default map view
This is an example of a change being made that has more detrimental results than improvements.
On a new session the pop-up EFB orientation is now remembered on Xbox X using 1.4.7.0 but:
- The last screen used isn’t retained.
- The last map option isn’t remembered.
Both of these were remembered in SU1.
It now takes more clicks than before to get the EFB back to the user preferred set-up than before. This is supposed to be a QoL improvement but actually makes it worse.
Additionally screen location should be retained.
It seems to me that the development team needs to pay more attention to detail when implementing bug fixes and QoL changes to ensure that there are no unintended detrimental effects in the immediate area otherwise progress is going to continue to be glacial. We’re seeing glimpses of greatness overshadowed by too many frustrating regressions.
Yes same here. But I guess that’s what we are paid for - beta testing.
Oh wait, we actually paid for it…
Seriously, I really wonder how they don’t find such obvious bugs themselves. I noticed this one within a few minutes with the new beta…
It’s something we can investigate, although neither testers reported it nor did anyone else until now across all the platforms we check for feedback (these forums, Reddit, a couple Discords, other forums) until here over a week into the beta, so it isn’t clear that it is happening for everyone.
Nevertheless we will get the issue logged for investigation, certainly!
Same here, it was working fine in SU1. Now I select the satellite map and it never sticks.
Also the EFB brightness slider can’t still be used.
Edited my post to clarify that I was using 1.4.7.0 on Xbox X.
I wasn’t on the beta very long as it was basically unusable for me but this was one of three examples where a new change had frustratingly been a backward step.
The others were:
-
The comms window is now zoomable however the command options are no longer accessible making it unusable. What was needed was the commands window being zoomable to see up to the maximum 10 options. Having the message window zoomable is a nice to have.
-
The logbook sorting now works properly but the logbook no longer logs all flights.
Both of these changes resulted in bugs and bug reports have been created. The EFB issue is just a QoL regression that doesn’t prevent the EFB from being used so I didn’t feel it warranted a bug report at this time. Glad to hear it’s going to be investigated though.
Thank you for the bug report.
We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged.
Is this reproducing for anyone in 1.4.10?
Thanks!
Yes.
My preferred Map Settings in the EFB are Maps: “Satellite” and Orientation Mode: “Track Up”
I can set the Map view to show these, and upon exiting MSFS & restarting, the settings revert back to Maps: “Default” and Orientation Mode: “North Up”.
I’ve just started MSFS & checked, and the settings have reverted back again to the default (Last night they were set to my preferred settings):
I changed them back to my preferred settings:
Returned to the World home page & exited the game, then restarted it - the settings have reverted back:
I’m wondering (pure speculation) if this is in some way also related to this bug:
Flights not logged in logbook - Sim Update 2 Beta | MSFS 2024 / User Interface & Activities - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
where my flights are being deleted every time I restart MSFS, as both are situations where user data is not being retained between MSFS restarts.

Interesting, I was just about to post that for me it seems to be solved in SU2 1.4.10
I’m using “terrain view” with north-up and configured it, went into several aircraft and also restarted the sim - for me the setting stayed.
Difference to you I notice: I’m on PC-Steam
EDIT:
just restarted my PC and launched FS again
In the main menu the my setting was still correct
then I loaded into an airport via free flight - and the EFB reverted to the DEFAULT state
So… not fixed for me, too
Not fixed for me too in 1.4.10.
Thanks for the feedback and extra detail!
It was fixed in 1.4.12.0.
