Can you tell me why the route is not set in the free field in EFB? Nothing happens when you click “find route”.
Good question and hopefully community can provide feedback.
I am facing the same issue. Maybe I am missing something or the in sim flight planner is bugged.
Using your example EDDM to LIRF:
- If you select the default VFR Pattern departing procedure, clicking find route has no effect. Bug ?
- If you change the procedure to Direct, it creates a route with a 1st way point located in the sea, south of Ivory Coast in Africa (0300E). Bug ?
- If you change the procedure to one of the existing ones for EDDM, it proposes a realistic route. But not all airport have this kind of departure option and for a VFR flights you should not have to select those departure procedures.
Doing the same with the online planner https://planner.flightsimulator.com, selecting Direct works (straight line) and selecting a VFR Pattern departure works too, a correct flight plan is generated.
That is probably due to the web-based planner using entirely different route planning logic to the in-sim route finder.
Matt at WT confirmed that they aren’t responsible for the in-sim route finding, I guess that it’s Asobo’s design?
I have found the in-sim planner to frequently come up with only one waypoint for a route.
Something about how they coded this is a departure from how they coded it in 2020, because the World Map in 2020 can easily come up with plausible, multi-waypoint routes.
Another for the heap of issues to address with 2024…
Kinda some days later, but I can confirm the “Find Route” button doesn’t work, half of the times it doesn’t find any route, or just a few points, etc.
