Are touch events properly working? As that’s where usually MSFS popouts fail
Don’t know. I use it with a mouse. I’ll give it a try and report back.
Update: I cannot seem to get the touch support to work between the latest version of SpaceDesk and the EFB in MSFS 2024. I moved the EFB window to my Fire tablet, Maybe it works with a regular Android or iOS device? It works fine with a mouse.
Your fire tabled have same android underneath so it will be same for other android devices. I guess inly trick is to use popout manager as in 2020 to make touch events work more or less properly. But still better option would be dedicated EFB app that would be either native or web version for android/ios
popping out windows still decreases performance with 10-15fps… 2024 is such a joke.
Me neither. It does in response to clicking (I think take control) but I can’t repeat it or even find that option most of the time. Also when touch is enabled, the efb screens go blank.
I am glad I searched because I wanted to suggest this very thing. Another option is let the EFB through browser perfectly mirror the EFB in game. It already links to the game via our account. Take it the extra step and mirror the content while flying.
Voted, as this is one of a few reasons I’m sticking with Navigraph: Their awesome mobile apps. If the FS EFB could run from my tablet, I’d run Navigraph from within it since that’s already possible, making it my sole tablet utility, which would be pretty amazing.
This is definitely a must using a real tablet outside of the sim synced with the FS tablet especially for the mission’s in career mode.
For those that are using spacedesk (or simply popping out the EFB to drag to another window) what is the FPS hit like? I seem to recall that when you pop out panels there was a significant FPS penalty….
In my opinion, as a first step it would be enough if they made the planner site synchronized with the actual position of your aircraft in the sim — nothing else would really be needed. Also, I don’t understand why the airport charts (online and in the efb) don’t show my position. That would be perfect for taxiing.
Working Title has said external flight tracking won’t be possible with the current resources available to them and the Lido charts don’t offer georeferencing on airport charts, so that’s not likely to come anytime in the foreseeable future.
Thanks for clarification… I didn’t know.
I use pop outs on every flight for years with Air Manager.
And yes, there were allot of issues with performance for the first little while if you used any type of VSYNC / GSYNC.
Sometimes DX12 made it better, etc…
I recently did a while other round of testing which can be seen here;
Summary:
Monitor: 60Hz
NVCPL GSYNC - On
NVCPL VSYNC - OFF
NVCPL Frame Limited - OFF
MSFS VSYNC - ON
MSFS Frame limiter - 100%
I have just got msfs24 on PlayStation and love the game and was hoping for a efb app and to my surprise nope not one at all. It would be a big game changer if they had one . They missing out on something good
I enjoy using the in-sim tablet on every flight. However, depending on what plane I am flying, the tablet can get in the way of operating the aircraft. It would be extremely nice if there was a way to operate this tablet on a separate device like an iPad. It would make using the checklists, performance calculations, and map much easier and more useful.
Please provide us the native iPad/tablet app for the EFB. I would gladly pay for it!
The MSFS EFB is very hard to get working when you have a modern web app. That is due to coherent gt being way outdated. You have to rewrite about 50% of the app to get it working.
Well, the Glass Out app works great for me.
I can run everything that’s compatible on my tablet using touch controls, and the FPS isn’t affected like it is with Spacedesk, for example.
It’s not free, but I was happy to pay the price… there’s also a demo version you can try out.
If it works then $18 for a lifetime subscription is nothing.
Can you pop the EFB out to a tablet?
And can the EFB in the cockpit remain hidden when you do?
What about ATC comms? Or is that not considered a ‘cockpit screen’?
Well, I’ve only had it for a short while myself… I can access the standard EFB—if the aircraft has one, i.e., mounted on a bracket or similar—on my tablet… and I can also turn it off using the power button on the tablet, and the EFB will continue to be displayed on my tablet with full functionality.
It also works with a custom EFB, like the one from the new Embraer 300E… I can load this EFB externally onto my tablet and enter everything there just like in real life.
Just try the demo… then you’ll see what’s possible… that’s what I did before buying it.
