EGMH gone since update 3

Unable to search for EGMH in the flight planner since world update 3. This is my local airport, and although temporarily closed for a few recent years, it was searchable until this update.

Any way to get it added back into the airport database please?

Agreed, Manston does not appear in the airport list, although the airfield does appear in the scenery.
I think you will find that other airfields in Kent have been removed too.

Very disappointing indeed!

Hugely disappointed with this result and it was short-sighted from whoever was responsible.
We need Manston put back on the map so we can fly from there. There’s a big community who want to fly to and from Manston but now basically can’t because it’s been deleted, for no good reason. We are urging the developers to reinstate Manston as it should never have been removed in the first place. It’s a fantastic airport with great potential both virtually and in the real world. Please add your support to the Bugs & Fixes topic, so that we can make our voices heard. Manston was very popular in MSFS prior to world update 3; there was always player activity into, out of and around it. As well as being my local airport, it was key facility in WW2, very popular for tourists, and has been represented in every flight sim since forever.

Please reinstate !!!

“it’s been deleted, for no good reason”

You do know the airport has shut down (it’s now a lorry park). That’s why it’s not in MSFS.

There is no good reason. It doesn’t benefit the sim to have it removed. Many of us would love to fly there in real life, but can’t, so we turn to the simulator, and now that’s being taken away from us too. Besides which, there is a very active helicopter operation that still exists at Manston, Polar Helicopters. Helicopter Training | Helicopter Hire | Kent | Polar Helicopters

The plans to bring it back to service are very real and will happen, even though there is some friction.
Take a look for yourself, TR020002-002458-7.3 - Design and Access Statement - 4 of 4.pdf (planninginspectorate.gov.uk)

If the developers don’t reinstate, when the airport does reopen in 2-3 years it’ll be too late - they will have moved on and we will have to modify the simulator ourselves. If they just do it now, we would be satisfied.

Besides, none of this is the point. The airport exists. There’s a demand to fly from there virtually. Why not support the community and actually let people fly from there?

MSFS is about realism. Manston Airport has closed. There is no EGMH. Tune in to 119.925 and you’ll just get static. The concrete still exists so nothing to stop you landing there. Yes it would be great if it does reopen, and if it does Asobo could patch it back, or more likely a third party would create a realistic version of the new airport.

I’m big for realism until it removes something from the experience, but I can understand your pov.

Hopefully those of us with a personal love for Manston can re-add it via the editor - like happened with Meigs Field… Meigs Field is Back!

One great advantage of a Sim is that those of us who want to can keep flying at iconic airports although they may be closed IRL - nothing wrong with that, especially if it is optional. Cheers.

i live in margate so im very close to manston, wish i could still fly their, although i did just find some scenery its still hard to land their as the airport loads in at 5NM instead of 20-40NM

In what way does it only load in at 5 miles? I messed around a bit with Manston so I have my own flavour which is also not perfect for sure but wondering what you mean by load distance?

Hi there,

I’m really sorry to close this topic. I know that this airport means a lot to you and some of the other people in this thread (as I can see by some of the people double-posting and double-voting in this and the duplicate EGMH thread).

Unfortunately, the airport is closed in real life. And the team’s goal is to make MSFS current. So, unfortunately beloved airports like Meigs Field and Kai Tak airport are no longer represented in the sim.

Fortunately, there are two mods available on flightsim.to for this airport:

The top one seems to be a work in progress and was only released a month ago. So you may want to look at the second one, for now.
