Several months ago I noticed a big elevation issue at Needles airport (KEED) that generated a cliff-like drop off in the space between the perpendicular runways. I wonder if that’s still there.
But even more, I wonder what the root cause is for all of this - an errant flatten switch? Something throwing off a detection that imposes such a switch? Bad elevation data?
That KMRY one is so bad. I have to think it’s an errant flatten switch. Some things to test - what’s the indicated elevation at both ends of the runway? Is it indeed flat? Because it shouldn’t be. It reminds me of the bad old days of P3D and FSX where runways would always be flat and generate a false “levee” on the end that should be lower or a depression on the end that should be higher, spending on which elevation measurement was used to generate the flat runway.
Hmm… it almost looks like the elevation of the ends of 10L and 28R are swapped. Both 28s should be on a plateau above the surrounding area to the east. That’s another possibility - an errant/swapped numerical elevation input.
Well, the totally nuts thing is it has the runway graded in the opposite direction of the actual elevation change that it naturally has. It’s lower at the 10L end IRL. In the sim it is a seriously steep grade climbing towards 10L. Something is totally jacked here.
Yeah, I realized that a minute after my post and added it. The ends seem to be swapped. If this is happening en masse, something has either corrupted the database or the code that reads it.
I just enabled Beautiful Model of the World’s KMRY (2020 version enabled in 2024) and it looks as it should, so the issue is definitely one related to autogen.
Ya, that looks a lot better, save for the errant glideslope antenna. I think there’s an RVR transmissometer there, but 28L does not have a glideslope. Another item for the scenery object thread I’m trying to get going.
Several florida airparks were i normally fly have been improved on last 2 updates but still some did not.
FA81 still have two big bumps on the extreme south.
FD08 is missing night lights they have in reality over the border of the runaway, just white lights looking like garden chandelers, dont ask me how they got FAA approval for that
62FA Naked Lady Ranch, Florida
grass runway some slopes on west end
tarmac runway severe bumps on both ends in fact few metter outside the thresold line.
not major issues, avoidable when spoted but will crash the plane if not avoided
