Disclaimer — Let’s be honest.
I’m taking the time to write this post not because I enjoy reporting bugs, but to add to the growing list of unacceptable issues in this version — even though MSFS 2020 already prepared us for this kind of nonsense.
I haven’t checked whether others are experiencing this exact issue, but GPT confirms it has already been reported.
I also won’t bother with the official template — because frankly, we shouldn’t even have to report something this basic.
Bug description
At the beginning of the flight, the elevator axis (pitch) works normally:
-
Pull back on the stick → nose up
-
Push forward → nose down
But later in the flight, either:
-
At the end of a mission, or
-
After using the autopilot,
…the elevator axis becomes reversed:
-
Pulling back now causes a dive
-
Pushing forward climbs the aircraft
This happens spontaneously, with no change to controller settings.
The only fix is to open the controls menu, go to the elevator axis, and manually tick or untick “Invert Axis” to reset it.
When it happens
-
In Career Mode missions, most consistently after using autopilot, or near the destination
-
Only affects the elevator axis (pitch) — ailerons and rudder remain fine
-
Happens with both legacy and modern flight models
-
No user input or change triggers it
Workaround
-
Pause the flight
-
Open Options > Controls
-
Locate your elevator axis
-
Toggle “Invert Axis”
-
Resume flight — controls are now back to normal (until the bug strikes again)
System
-
Platform: PC
-
Hardware: [ex: Thrustmaster T.16000M + TWCS throttle]
-
No mods
-
Occurs with default aircraft (Cessna 172, Caravan, TTx…)
-
Happens regardless of camera view or assistance settings
-
No changes made in Developer Mode
Reproducibility
Situation | Frequency |
---|---|
Career Mode mission (with AP) | Very often |
After autopilot use | Often |
Standard VFR flight | Rare |
What should happen
-
Elevator axis should remain correctly mapped from takeoff to landing.
-
Autopilot logic should not interfere with flight control inputs post-disengage.
-
A sim should never reverse your pitch axis mid-flight without warning.

This needs to be seen and fixed — it’s not just an edge case or user setup issue.
