Elevator Trim has a mind of it's own

Is anyone else having an issue with elevator trim? I find sometimes that as I’m flying, the trim will move by itself to very extreme degrees, even 80-90% so that I have to push or pull very hard to keep the aircraft level. I use the honeycomb alpha and bravo controls, but I’ve tried unbinding the trim controls and I still have issues. I also make sure I have AI trim assist OFF. I also find it’s a bit different depending on the aircraft. Anyone else seeing this? Or any ideas?

Only when autopilot is on with aircraft that use trim for pitch control.
Those aircraft usually have an indicator that shows when you are running auto of trim authority. Like the Piper Comanche.

Check the assists options.
Is auto trim on?
Check for multiple mappings to trim function.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already mentioned tbat I confirmed auto trim is off, unless there’s another setting I missed. I also unbound the trim from my controllers which seemed to help at first but then I got more of the same.

If you have any other peripherals installed, check those for any trim mapping too.
Custom keyboard or mouse set up, check those as well.

I have unbound all trims from all devices. I have no way to make any trim inputs at all. AI Auto Trim is off. And still the trim is drifting as I fly

I too have had this issue. I have experienced it with both the
auto pilot on and with it off. I had to go to 99% down at one time.
It always seem to do it at the worst possible time.

I checked my controls again and it seems like my custom keyboard with no trims reverted to the default profile. So I unbound trim from my keyboard again and it seems like it’s helping so far. But why would the trim drift with the default factory keyboard profile if I’m not even touching my keyboard?

I’m finding the 2024 controls profiles pretty frusterating so far. There are other things that seems not to work either. Ugh. I might go back to 2020 or I might try x-plane at this point

Time for a bug report, if you could please.
Electric trim or manual trim wheel or both ?

I haven’t experienced it but others are agreeing.

Looking back through 2020 trim bug reports, it has been reported there too.
I don’t think it’s ever been Bug Logged as it seems to be amongst the hard to
replicate issues & I didn’t see any 2024 BugReps specifically to this issue.

I did find a workaround/help though.
At least if it goes crazy, you can hopefully recover before “faceplant into dirt” happens.
Map a key/button to Quick Trim.
Reset trim may work too?

I use trim up down on the yoke/stick but I’m going to remove all of the keyboard trim functions, along with many, many other mappings not used or needed by myself, to prevent any accidental inputs.

Bugged trim here as well. Nothing is connected. As soon as I turn AP on, my trim wants to stall the plane and kill everyone on board - FLC off, VS Off, don’t know what the heck. I am not flying planed manually for 500NMs. As if there weren’t enough bugs already… Grrrrr. This game maybe so frustrating because of bugs, its just bleh.

I have the same issue with elevator trim with 2024, not X-plane, nor 2020. I have spent about an hour troubleshooting, but no fix.

I had this issue even with auto pilot turned off.

I think I’ve resolved this on my end by disabling the trim key binding on my keyboard. I wasn’t using them anyways. Not sure why my keyboard was causing an issue

I got a good result by unbinding the trim inputs from my keyboard. I was using the default keyboard profile though, so I’m not too sure exactly why it was causing a problem

Yeah, this affects certain planes, they go crazy above the clouds. No ice, nothing is cold, no warnings.

I was having this issue even at low altitude below the clouds :man_shrugging:

But I seem to be in better shape after removing the trim bindings from my keyboard

Elevator trim is always slowly returning to “Takeoff” trim position. My refund was refused!

I have already returned to 2020. At least my plane flys correctly and my GPS navagation system works.

I found that “double” or “triple” binds are a nasty thing in FS24..

I don’t know how many times i messed up my camera or enabled feature xyz just because when i’m hitting “zoom” + “flaps” (or any other combo) at the same time some stuff i didn’t want or need got triggered because whatever combo i pressed made FS think “oh, they don’t want to extend flaps while zooming, they want to enter photo mode while on approach!” or whatever…

Could’ve been more of the same with the trim issues you’re describing, maybe?

Be sure you don’t have Auto Trim set to ON.

Settings, Assistances.

AI Auto Trim is now OFF. All is in order. Thanks!
