Remap the trim buttons…?
Use keyboard trim…?

i remapped to the 8 and 9 key, it seemed to work, well the instructor moved me on, but it was the flaps that changed, the trim icon didn’t move at all.
With your Logitech Extreme Pro, is there an application launched wich could contains it’ own settings ?
In this case, try without it to see if it’s change something.
Edit: And are you sure to have pressed “Apply and Save” after your changes ?
It’s trivial but sometimes we forget the simpliest things
I agree!
Just after this post on May 30th 2021, this topic has maneuvered from (broken) trim sensitivity, to joystick controllers and animations.
This topic is about the need for a software change/fix by the MSFS development team as correctly pointed out above by @vakosel.
Anybody who flies for real knows how easy it is to trim, this ease still needs to be reflected somehow in MSFS, no doubt.
Yes I can trim any aircraft in MSFS too, but its not as easy in MSFS as it NEEDS to be. So if you can trim now, you will be able to trim easier after this is fixed to a more realistic standard.
Once again, this fix will cause NO HARM to those who can currently trim the MSFS aircraft. There is no need to “oppose” this topic.
you can change sensitivity in the flight model cfg, set any what you feel convenient/real
that’s example from caravan
elevator_trim_effectiveness = 1.25
aileron_trim_effectiveness = 1
rudder_trim_effectiveness = 1.5
I must say that I think trim has been greatly improved in the latest patch. Just did a test with the 172 floatplane and you can trim nicely on finals and use the power to increase or decrease height. Have up and down trim mapped to the hat switch in an X52 Pro and the axis trim mapped to small wheel type thing on top of the throttle but not needing to use it, just leave it centred.
Since the Simupdate 5 the elevator trim is damaged. I fly the cessna 172 in real Life. Just have a look at the topic bugs and issues. Thousand of people have voted… Before simupdate 5 the elevator reacts like it should. But now it is to sensitive, jumps and makes a strange click sound.
@ sirpelvis1986 which trim control, the up/down or axis control? The up/down control that emulates trim buttons seems to be much improved when mapped to a hat type switch. I could never use it before as it required too many button presses to move. The axis control that tries to emulate a trim wheel is massively over sensitive and I don’t use it, tries to turn the plane into a rocket. I got my ppl on a c172 as well and it does not work properly, agree.
I have the saitek cessna trim wheel so I only use the axis control. And the axis control doesn’t work correct… Hope they will fix it soon.
I’ve got a Thrustmaster warthog and have elevator trim bound to a POV hat. I find the trim very, very sensitive which results in aircraft that are very difficult to stabilize into straight and level flight.
I don’t have this issue with other flight sims. It appears to me that a the trim wheel moves far to much with a single button press.
To this day and is that a minute ago I verified that the Trim still does not work in my Icon 5
It has been months since I tried MSFS2020 and today I decided to install all the updates and give it a spin. I had an axis assigned to the elevator trim but it does not seem to work properly at all. I also tried just using a pair of switches on the yoke for electric trim. That works better but the trim indicator on the C172 never reflects the true trim percent.

Trim indicator in %?
Does the value indication when hovering the mouse over the trim wheel work for you?
I thought it had been removed with SU5.
So now it is working. I think what the problem might have been is I did not have all the updates installed. After the updates it was still having problems but I think restarting the SIM this morning fixed it.
I ended up using SPAD.Next to map the axis to the trim. I think the axis mapping UI is FS2020 is not that great. It is difficult to tell which one you are working with. It is much more intuitive in SPAD as you just need to move the axis and you can immediately see which one it is.

Trim wheel is well broken still, don’t use it anymore, just make sure it is centred before flight, using trim buttons which are much better now. Too much trim can still turn you into a space rocket though. Discovered this article on this carrier launch of an E-2, look at how the pilot is hitting the trim buttons on his yoke, think the left is mapped to elevator, from about 7 mins 35 secs, amazing slow and low flight, you can almost smell the plane smells
21 posts were merged into an existing topic: [BUG LOGGED] Elevator trim doesn’t work as pre-SU5 and it’s impossible to fly
I agree, elevator trim is much to sensitive. I tried using the virtual trimwheel (so to exclude hardware or binding problems). A small adjustment on the wheel propelles the plane into the universe.Before I was able to trim without any problem, now I only fly acft with AP in order to trim via the autopilot.
This morning I’m discussing about this issue on the C172 trim. Before SU5 it was just perfect. I flew the C172 real life for 10 years and the trim in the sim is way too sensitive. I don’t know what changed after SU5 but really hard to maintain a nice approach with a trim like that. Please correct that. The Cirrus SR22 works so well compare to the C172.

I not only have a problem w/ elevator trim sensitivity, I also have a problem with the trim randomly adjusting itself. It wanders (usually back to a nearly neutral position), not staying where I set it.
Which aircraft?
