I am experimenting with using emissive lighting scenery objects (from a library I found on flightsim.to) to light up an non-airport (just scenery) area with extreme lighting (1000w spot or flood lighting). It is working very well, EXCEPT that the lights only start to show when you get to within roughly 100 yards of the lights. However, after that, the lights remain visible from 5 miles away. The problem is the initial loading.
I have a basic understanding of LOD, but as the lights are from a library, I can’t control that for them. And it doesn’t seem to be an end user issue because as I said, once the lights have loaded, they remain visible as I retreat, at least up to 5 miles away.
Though I am not very good at modeling and have only used Blender very basically, I would learn about and create my own emissive textures, but I need to know that this is a fixable issue.
One other library I have tried, with much lower wattage of lights (max 40w) is even worse. You need to be close to see them and they disappear as you move away.
I am looking for powerful lights (not actual lamps or runway lighting) that are immediately visible from far away and stay visible as you recede, at least to 5 miles away.
Treat me as a beginner/novice please, because I am.
