Esc key not responding after MSFS 2024 update

Description of the issue:
Esc key isn’t read so no sim halt and no access to settings etc or to end a flight. Only way to end a flight is Ctrl-Alt- Del, and end process in Task manager. Menus are accessible before starting a flight so I tried reset of keyboard in menu (it is wired USB by the way) and looking for a menus item to assign Esc (can’t find) and redo P for pause so I could get menus that way. None of that worked. Next restart I entered settings and keyboard then unplugged my keyboard and replugged it. problem solved! Esc worked for 2 times I ended a flight and selected another one (all free flights). then on 3rd flight back to no response from Esc and pause commands.

• Same issue for me. Been using UD #2 for 2 days until this happened. Will report back after playing with keyboard

Check your controls binding.
This works.

2020 Transversal bindings

Well no - like I said I have been unable to bring up that part of the keybinding when the esc problem happens (which I suppose is no surprise because the sim ‘forgets’ about the Esc key).
I use 2020 as well but no problems there - or with anything else that should respond to Esc.

This has been happening to me intermittently for a while. I’m on Xbox. I’m still able to use the mouse to click on the “Back [ESC]” command lower left on screen though so it’s inconvenient but not a show stopper. Strangely it still works on some screens when I’m experiencing the issue.

It’s still happening in SU3 Beta 1.5.3.0.

I’ve done a fresh install of MSFS 2024 on Steam. The computer is new and has never had any version of MSFS installed on it.

I do have the same problem. So far I’ve isolated it to modifying Keyboard presets configs. It appears that using any other preset than the locked default ones in “General controls” results in inoperable Esc-key.

This occurs at least in Free Flights and challenges. In main menu, Escape seems to work fine regardless of selected “General controls” preset.

Yes thanks for that. I have also discovered that I can set P for pause and once paused I get access to menus. But itwas wrong of them to screw up the keyboard assignments like that - I would have preferred the same control and keyboard setup as for '20 but perhaps with additions if required like with their special setups.
