What I’m after here is a way to access any logs in Windows 10 Home Edition, version “2004.” I’d like to see if there is anything recorded at the time of the crash, but so far, I haven’t found anything. I’m looking in the Event Viewer, but there’s nothing that looks relevant near the time of the last one that happened this afternoon.
Seeing you run on 16GB RAM, my best guess is running out of virtual memory. Open Event Viewer, under ‘Windows Logs’ click on ‘System’. On the right click ‘Filter Current Log’, place a check for Event level ‘Warning’, where it says ‘All event IDs’ type ‘2004’ and click OK. This will now only show instances of Windows running out of virtual memory, if you’re seeing these and it says flightsimulator.exe at the start of the log then you need to increase your pagefile.
I’ll call this a solution, but it looks like I’ll have to turn on Error Reporting (if possible in Win10 Home). From this post and the other you linked: C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\CrashDumps No such folder inside Local C:\Users(me)\AppData\Local\CrashDumps Empty C:\Windows\minidump No such folder
Edit… Had to edit the registry, but I can now turn it on and off. I’ll leave it off until I fly again, then if there’s a CTD, I can check the above locations. I don’t plan on leaving it on unless I’m flying.
