Expedition Earth

Be part of an endless world tour, where we always continue our flight where we landed last. Every week we toss it up a bit too with the Flightplan optimized for bush planes, STOL planes, and small GA aircraft. We usually keep the speed between 110 - 140 kts and we don’t shy away from the shortest dirt strips or fields so bring your favorite bush plane and get ready to get your tires dirty. Who knows what will happen? It’s Expedition Earth!

Flights are always on Saturdays at 1600 zulu, West-USA server

Leg 12 of EE:California
Dos Volcanos and the Trinity Alps
We’ll leave Lake Almanor and begin our climb to the Lassen Volcanic Park. Mount Lassen, is a lava dome volcano (10,457′) and the southernmost active volcano in the Cascade Range of the Western United States. Lassen’s last eruption was from 1914-1921.

Our second Volcano will be Mt. Shasta, a potentially active volcano at the southern end of the Cascade Range in Siskiyou County, California. At an elevation of 14,179 feet, it is the second-highest peak in the Cascades and the fifth-highest in California (Wikipedia). Keep an eye peeled for UFOs as they are often reported in the area.

Our journey will continue through the Trinity Alps, a mountain range in Trinity County and Siskiyou County in Northern California. They are a subrange of the Klamath Mountains located to the north of Weaverville. We’ll follow them South to our destination at Hayfork. There are no add-ons for this leg. Flight Plan

My apologies on not staying on top of things and posting these things here. I will do better from here on out and post them each week on here as well. We are now 5 weeks into our journey in the Pacific North-West. It started out as EE:Oregon but quickly became just EE:PNW. We invite all to join our flights. These are mainly bush and backcountry flights with open comms. (It is streamed on twitch each week so we just ask you are courteous of others in the VC) So with that said bring your bush birds or anything you think can hang as we land on and off the beaten path. So without further ado details for tomorrows flight is just below.

Leg 6 of EE:PNW

More fun in the Great Northwest.
This week we’ll continue our exploration of the Eastern San Juans, then do a deep penetration into the North Cascades. We should have numerous opportunities for river running and maybe some STOL activity. Our break point looks like it will be at Concrete Muni (3W5), where we’ll fuel up and take care of personal needs because it’s a long hike through the mountains with no facilities until we reach our destination at Lost River Lodge (W12) where hot coffee and the comforts of home await.
